I was watching the wooten video for the thumb-pluck.. and i attempted this act but was totaly unsucsesssful....then i watched it again and saw how this hand was clenched in a fist... iv'e always played with my hand flat...
is there any real difference?does anyone else pluck like this?

so.. is it just syle, preference? or is there some restrictions depending on each style?

its not really important which way you do it, it is preferential

I find it easier to play midway between a clenched fist and an open hand. Clenched fist makes it a little easier to DT, but makes it VERY hard to switch into popping. Open hand makes it easier to pop and all that, but makes DT a little slower. Midway between the two is a nice balance for me :)
Use whatever you find comfortable and easy.:thumb:
