My dog died on December 4th, 2004. I remember it because it was 4 days before Dimebag Darrel was shot.
It's not a week I look back on with fondness.

you know what. i dont care if you edited it.
Are you people really sorry about his dog? I mean, really, truely sorry? I find that hard to believe.
Personally, being the kind, warm hearted individual I am, I shed tears for my internet contact's supposedly dead animal who I've never seen, touched, or heard about at all before this.
Couple of things:
1) What is everybody so sorry about? None of you, as far as I know, had anything to do with the death of his dog. And from what I gather, none of you could have done anything about it.
2) So what's with all the apologizing?
I havn't had a chance to listen to the tune yet. But I have a feeling I'll know what it sounds like, you only pester me with your playing everyday. :thumb:
It's a good thing you don't suck.

Nice song.
Is it two tracks?
It's sympathy, not apology.
You know as well as I do that in this respect, (sympathy) nobody in this thread was truely moved emotionally by his plight.
Granted, sympathy is defined by the mutual affection between two "humans" on a certain topic. Which would mean that only those who have experienced the situation themselves could actually claim they were "sorry" for it happening.
Even then, I doubt they truely, truely mean it. I'm blowing this completely out of proportion, yes, I realize that; and such is the joy of advanced philosophical examination of the human emotional complex. :thumb:
But what is your opinion on why all this "sympathy" is so easily thrown around?
Personally, I think it just to be "the thing to say." That courtesy has defined our emotions for us, and we conform accordingly. Perhaps it more wise to simply acknowledge the possibility of emotional distress for the actual "victim" of the circumstance rather than admit some pseudo compassion, but...maybe I'm just a heartless douche bag.

You're essentially right, but remember that most of the people in this forum are emotionally propelled teenagers.

It's true, which is why I feel it so necessary for the examination of "why" courtesy has shaped itself the way it has for our emotional expression.

Here's my point:
This character is moved emotionally simply out of the fear of the potential happening of this event to his own life. Thus is made relevant the selfishness of the human emotional complex. Another point of discussion on a topic that is supposed to maintain a certain "mutual" emotional support, not simply fear for one's own situation.
By the way, never in that post did I hint even remotely at my own emotional feelings on the topic that wasn't in a satirical attempt to prove my point. So do me a favor of analyzing me correctly.

In all honesty I'm not quite sure how I feel on the topic. I'm not completely sure I agree with domestication for no purpose other than companionship, so I have no idea how that affects my opinion of one actually dying.
It's a conflicting issue for me.

Funny, I've had several.
My current "dog" is blind and dying as we speak.

We could either look at this as a cognitive reflex based on our formed beliefs about what is morally right, or a simple case of classical conditioning whereas we are surrounded by sympathetic people who don't really do anything about the subjects they are so sympathetic towards, and so we ourselves follow suit, hoping to get a pat on the back when it is our turn to ask for sympathy.
I said some form of sympathy way too many times in one sentence.
Sade is brilliant.
