Hey guys, I play guitar right now, but since I started guitar, I always wanted to play bass.
I'm looking for a bass guitar, and an amp for under $500.. Any ideas for me?
I talked with a guy at guitar center, and he showed me a Ibanez GSR200, and a Crate BT50 combo.. Any good?

Right price. Now, since I have don't know a thing about bass, would that amp be able to play with a band? I know a 60 watt guitar amp would do decent, but no idea about bass.

The OLP comes out to about $230 with free shipping from MusiciansFriend. My band's guitarist both use 60 watts and my 100 watt works quite nicely. You'll need to be louder, as well as your guitarist, to play anything other than a house part or small venue, however. If your willing to cut a bit higher above your budget. For $300 you could get the Fender Rumble 100 (http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Bass/Electric?sku=516076) would do you justice.

the GSR200 is one of the most solid basses that there is, and i am not talking cheep basses. i am talking any bass that is factory made. i would get the GSR200 and fender rumble 60w (or 100w if thats what you want)

definitely look in the Cort range as far as the bass goes, and then as has been said maybe a fender rumble 100. another to look at is peavey for the combo unit as they have some good stuf that should fall within your budget.
(the Cort whore strikes again)
