No this is fair enough.
Aluminum cones give a birighter, more trebley sound. Obviously veery durable.
Paper cones give a deep, bassyer sound, obviously not so durable.
Im not too good with brands, someone else will know.

I thought that aluminium cones wore out quicker

Aluminium cones do wear quicker, plus they're a complete bitch if they rip

i was thinking the other day, if a combination of a cab with paper cones and a cab with aluminium ones would be pointless or noticeable or anything.
just a random thought... if i had the money i would buy one of each and try it out haha

within the same quality range....like if you compared hartkes aluminum speakers to their paper ones, aluminum will be clearer and treblier, with a bit more growl. paper will tend to be warmer. that being said, however, a higher quality paper speaker will most likely outdo a cheap aluminum speaker anyway.
with aluminum speakers, chances are youll never tear the cone itself, but they do wear out faster than paper cones, because:
-theyre mounted via paper, which can wear out and tear (and will, eventually)
-constant vibration and flexing causes metal fatigue, which ruins metal (and therefore your speakers).

If i remember right, aluminum cones do go bad quicker... the edges corrode from chemical reaction's between the aluminum and the housing, or something like that.... i didint catch all of what was being said... so, i suppose it wouldn't be a very good long-term cab...
IMO, GK > Hartke :thumb:

don't really have enough cash for a gk head, they are pretty expensive in australia, and i was happy with the tone that came out of the hartke rig i tried, i heard that aluminium cones are more likely to blow at louder levels aswell..

I really dislike GK. And Trace Elliot.
As for aluminium cones, I like a 'clear' sound, rather than warmth. I'd prefer to have my speakers reproduce exactly what was coming from the amp, rather than altering it. But paper cones are not without their charm.

This really concerns me,being an owner of the hartke 4 x 10 and 1 x 15 XL series (aluminium of course) but i thrash them week out and i can't see any signs of them faulting soon, plus i love their ability to cut through easier than paper cones and their bright slap/pop tone. (though alot will disagree)
Oh well we'll see what happens.
P.S I once made a cone out of a coke can, and it sucked as well..

Are there any other companys that have aluminium cones beside Hartke?
I can't seem to think of any.

I wouldn't call Hartke low quality, but I wouldn't call them high quality either. A pretty "middle-of-the-road" company in terms of quality.
