Hello.

I have recently purchased and ATI Radeon 9600 Pro for my PC. Although, I seem to be having a few problems with it.

I tried to play CS: Source, but my frame rate was extremely bad, even on the recommended settings (at 1024x768 res). So then, I decided to move everything to lowest. This still failed to fix the problem, as I was hitting to low 20's when in combat.

Now, i'm sure this cannot be right; seeing my friend has the same Radeon and manages to play it at a stable FPS in medium settings.

Can anybody help me out here? Maybe I havnt uninstalled my previous onboard graphics correctly. I went into Device Manager but I couldn't find the old drivers.

I'm just not sure what is wrong.

Thank you.

You probably need to run driver cleaner. When i first built my computer, i guess i had a bad driver install because SLI was not being recognized. Running driver cleaner and reinstalling fixed it.

Download the newest drivers from ATI's web site.

Run Driver Cleaner. Also you have to disable your Onboard Graphics in the BIOS.

Yeah, I have downloaded the latest drivers and installed them as soon as I got my card.

I guess i'll run driver cleaner, and if that fails; i'll go into the BIOS and disable the onboard graphics.

Cheers.

If your monitor is plugged into the ATI card, and you don't see the onboard graphics controller in device manager, then it's not using the onboard graphics. What CPU and how much RAM do you have?
