I am contemplating getting myself a Cort Artisan B4 Fretless.

http://www.cort.com/basses/artisan/b_index.html (The body will be swap ash, not mahogany)

My only concern at this point is with regards to the fact that the body and neck of the bass have not bean "sealed" as in laquiered or varnished, thus I will assume that oiling/waxing at interval will be needed.

What I would like to know is who of you play basses that have not been "sealed" and how you care for the wood. I have heard people mention lemon oil when it comes to the fretboard of the bass (can this also be used on the body?), but that kind of thing is rather hard to come by where I live, so any suggestioned/reccomendations would be great.

Buy the cleaning products online? Go somewhere that sells it and buy it in bulk? I wouldnt be letting that drag you away from buying the bass...

its not the lack of cleaning/care products that are stopping me, I am asking what products and such you guys can recommend. Generally ordering stuff online is a bit of a problem as I live in South Africa and the majority will not ship here or the cost will outweight the benifits.

Warwick makes a finisher wax for their basses. they recommend waxing about once a month, or more if conditions are dry....

btw, nice choice of bass :thumb: they play beautifully

^^ thanks

(finally a reply with something decent to say)

Just wondering if I should consider oiling it from time to time rather than using a wax.

im not 100% on it, but i believe using Tung oil, or something similare will also work? they just spoke about it in the Naked Guts thread :thumb:.. i also read something from Warwick, in a FAQ... someone wanted to know if he could use oil on the bass rather than the waxing..... of course, they said no because im assuming they want you to buy their stuff  but... i think a waxing would hold up better...
