I just defretted my old Samick, and now I need a good set of flatwounds. Any recommendations? Like companies or types. Thanks.

Rotosound Steve Harris Signature Flatwounds. Very good flats, a little heavier than the average flat, so they're not great for weaklings, but if you can put up with playing on them, the tone and response is brilliant. It's a great tone, they have "warmth" for plenty of mwah, but they also have a great "thud" about them, which is good for adding an almost upright tone to your fretless.

I like Fender tapewounds....if you want something really thunky, and GHS Precision Flatwounds.

I personally like LaBella Flats, nothing to compare to but I liked them when I was using them on my bass.

TI Jazz Flats.

Listen to the old ****s.
TI Jazz Flats are the way to go.
Was having a look at the rotosound page (potentially also getting a fretless) and the Tru Bass 88 sounds pretty good (obviously bass and amp dependant)
Edit: just realised that the guage of the Rotosound Tru Bass 88 starts at guage 0.65 and just heads on upwards.

TI Jazz Flats are a total different kind of flats though. Some love them and some hate them.

Fender or Rotosound flats usually do me well.
