I just got a set of Tama Starclassic Performers and now need to purchase a floor tom stand. I've never had a hanging floor tom and am curious if my stand needs to be brand specific as in does it need to be a Tama stand? Thanks alot!

You dont need a floor tom stand. All you need is either a tom holder or a latch-on attactment to a existing cymbal stand. With the latch on attachment. You will need a tom L-Rod Holder and the brace which conects the tom holder to the cymbal stand and walla!

What do u mean by tom holder because i'm not going to attach it to a cymbal stand as I have seen done before I'd like it to have its own stand so it will be easier to maneuver. Thanks.

the only part that is tama-specific is the L-rod (and mem lock)... and even then Gibraltar makes 'em in tama's size.

tama rockstar stuff is good stuff, tho... can't hurt.

Sonor Tom stands are nice.

So as I understand I can basically get any brand of stand say, DW, and mine will fit into the base of it? Thanks for your help.

I dont know about the DW rods, they are a fair bit bigger then my Tama Single Tom mount rods.. it might work.. BTW I have a starclassic. Congrats on your purchase:).

Well I already have a Tama t-rod mount that came with the kit and theres a larget pipe coming off of it that looks as if it would fit into any tom stand or cymbal stand for that matter. Maybe I'll take a pic to show this better. *Edit - I cant find my camera and tested one of my ludwig cymbal stands and it didn't fit. Do you think I should just take the mount to guitar center tomorrow and see if it fits, do you know if guitar center would allow that? Thanks.

you will most likely want TAMAs new heavy duty floortom stand they just came out with for this year.... (one on the right)

yea thumbs up to TAMA for FINALLY making a good floortom stand.

they already had the parts in their catalog all they had to do was play a little lego and presto! ~ HD tom stand.
ill bet they didnt even invent it ~ ill bet a drummer lego'ed it and they saw it was a good piece to release.

TAMA is very weird like that for some reason

I bought my Tama ROadpro double tom stand for about $80. They usually run about $90-$100. Just get a stand with an L rod holder. Doesnt have to be a whole stand either you can et a clamp and clamp the tom to a cymbal stnd just make sre its heavy duty enough.

Get a extra cymbal stand for it. or buy a tom holder
