problem with new cds

so i just recieved 5 sets of ubuntu intall cds for free by mail. i ordered them from the site. when i opened the box and looked at the recording surface of the cds, i noticed the space that the files are taking up on the recording surface is a bit deformed. i dont know how to explain it. ill post a pic.

can you tell me if the cd is defective? im afraid to put into my cd drive.
