Today I just found out that Garm has created a new band called Head Control System. From the two songs that they have released to the public they sound amazing. The HCS album is due out April 4. 2006

<3 Garm. He's such a talented guy, he reminds me almost of a more metal Mike Patton. This sounds pretty sick.

I'm thinking of buying the special rare edition of Ulver's Blood Inside. It's in a red velvet box, numbered and limited to 2000 copies. I love literally everything this guy has done.

My next CD buying spree will consist of some Arcturus and Ulver.

Same. I'm bidding on some Arcturus stuff on eBay as we speak.
Ugh. Red Velvet sounds too Burlesque to me.
But that band sounds excellent.
We should do a thread to find out Rock and Metal's most prolific musician. Heh.

Garm vs Patton, I'd say. We should seriously do that, but make it a nominate + vote thing.

Honestly, I'm getting sick of all the popularity contests.
Anyways, anyone who could go from Nattens Madrigal to Perdition City and still keep a fanbase has got to be cool in my book. I remember hearing a little bit of HCS a while ago, and it sounded decent...I wonder if they're going to be at the End Records showcase at SXSW? (the freaking GATHERING is going to be there, enough for me to freak out over, but seeing Garm live would be amazing).

Garm is just...
He has the most grating and freakish scream in all the black metal I've heard, and he's also done the most beautiful operatic vocals I've heard.
Woot for the Garm, and this Head Control System sounds cool, I'll get back when the song's finished downloading.
EDIT: Hoooly crap. There is no way Skin Flick is sung by Garm... the vocals are too beautiful. I'm hooked, sign me up for the Garm fan club!
And how awesome is the drum solo!?

Considering I've loved just about everything with Garm, I've gotta check this out. Will post thoughts later...
Edit: It always amazes me how versitle Garm is. It seems everything he touches is gold. Can't wait for this album (and for his vocals on the new solefald album, if he's still doing that)

Heard some songs by them and didn't realy think to much of it. The vocals are top, but the rest of the music sounded a bit simple to me.

I've never seen anyone be able to pull off as many styles as Garm does so well...extremely talented vocalist.
I'd love to see what Garm's come up with this time.

Actually it's not Garm's band but the other guy's. Garm was only asked to do the vocals but when he heard the music he decided to join full on. So most of the stuff was already made before he got in i gues.

The other guy in the band is Daniel, and yeah he wrote everything and plays all instruments so I guess it's more his band. I love the music, it's more chaotic and non-linear than most hard-rock you hear most days.

This is...interesting. It's alternative rocklike, yet it's got Garm. Wholly interesting.

I read about the lyrical concept and the whole album is supposed to be about girls.

Exactly... it sounds gimmicky but they pull it off so well! Not even Mike Patton could go from recording a fierce black metal record in a forest to radio-friendly hard rock.

So freaking true.... Garm is king... Head Control System is bizarre as Hell, my friend Ryan showed me them back in like October.
It sounds excelent, Garm is amazing really.......he should do another Trip-Hop album he´s great at that and everything really.

I wouldn't say they are radio friendly. They have too many wierd harmonies and chord progressions to have radio play.

I think they have some other songs on their myspace

Good stuff, I like it quite a bit. Definitely a more radio friendly version compared to anything else Garm's done.

I have Skin Flick on my profile.
I would say HCS are closer to being radio friendly, but not by very much.

I still wouldn't really say they're radio friendly...maybe more so than his previous releases with Arcuturus and Ulver.

Oh my. No matter how much i love Garm, that was pretty shocking. All i heard was 'Were trying to be Tool, Tool, Tool.'
I hope the album is better :(:(:(

I thought we'd all heard about this months ago. I'm sure someone made a thread on it quite a while back.
Anyway, Blood Inside sucks. Almost the worst thing I got in 2005.

I love Blood Inside, I think it's some of his best work actually, it just took a while to grow on me.

The general sound of Skin Flick, especially the chorus, sounds very radio-y to me. But hey.
I don't think it sounds anything like Tool.
And with Blood Inside... I've heard In The Red and am loving it as we speak, is the rest of the album like that?

! I'd probably say that it's one of my lesser favorites out of everything I've heard from Garm, but I still consider it better than average. There is very little to be impressed about his vox on the album, but I still like it quite a bit. To each his own.
And I heard about HCS about 6 or so months ago when I was getting really into Arcturus, but hey, if it's news to someone, then it's new news. :p

Yeah, when Bobo first told me about them, he compared them to APC, and I'd have to agree quite a bit. Not that it matters.

I find Arcturus to be more Toolish, For To End Yet Again sounds like it leapt right out of Lateralus.
Ok a new discussion; what is your favourite Garm vocal performance? Mine is either For To End Yet Again, Thou Who Dwellest in the Night or the eleventh track from Kveldssanger.
