Just ordered my custom epiarch snare. Keller maple 14x5.5, precision drum hide-a-head wood hoops. Solid white wrap, solid white hoops, black tube lugs.
Can't wait till it arrives :)

Best price I could get. Conaway was a tiny bit cheaper but dont come with choice of heads, so ended up being a little more.

Epiarch has had some pretty seedy history on the pearl forums... >_>

I don't really follow them though, so I don't know what's happened since.

I usually don't like white hardware, but white/white would look pretty classy...

^^ he HAD a seedy history. Check his stuff now. Looks ace.

And BTW, Epiarch charges more for the wrap than for the lacquer.

That's why I said I haven't been following him lately :/

meh..sounds overpriced and i dont really dig the image im getting in my head. getting new gear though is an awesome feeling for the buyer

I was under the impression his seedy history was due to a "fake" solo where he apparently lied about its origins. But i dont care, theres some lovely epiarch kits on there

Well, that was part of it, and quite hilarious to follow...

There was also a big deal about some drums he shipped with some defects and such. But hell, OCDP does that for twice the price, ha!

That line made me laugh too hard

I find their pricing to be very odd. Wraps are wraps, I have never seen one wrap worth more than another. And no wrap should be priced like a lacquer finish unless they make the wraps themselves.

actually, if you would look on precision drum or other drum part stores, you would see that certain wraps cost more than others.

TAMA wraps are different prices depending on series. (in some cases they are the series  )

FL3P

^^ Wouldnt the price depend on the wood and features and not really the actual wrap? A maple drum with a wrap is going to cost more then a birch drum with a wrap and some series will only be available in wraps or painted finishes.

^^ yeah. The SCP is cheaper with a wrap than with a lacquer, same for the SCM and Superstars

FL3P
02-03-2006, 07:41 PM
^^ and the SCP with a wrap would be cheaper then a superstar with a wrap because of the different woods and options.

stevoibanez
02-03-2006, 07:46 PM
^^ uh . . . no. The SCP is a step up over the Superstar

yea the Superstars have 3 sub-series ~ only difference is the wraps and price (of course).

all this talk about wraps reminded me.... ill never buy another wrapped kit again :smash:

well sorta, kinda. i own a set of TAMA Superstar SKs with a chitty wrap. its a very nice color, but im so sick of the low quality look of wraps i vowed that my next kit will not have a wrap. (or maybe ill remove the wrap from these and refinish them if i still love them in a few years)

:chug:

for those who say its pricey, you should really check out the website. 14" 10 ply maple snares start at 220. For that you get any satin or semi-gloss finish, black, chrome, black or brass hardware (basic lugs, 2.3 mm hoops, strainer), and whatever head combo you want.

my pork pie piglite clear acryllic snare rocks too. only $200, but my parents could have gotten a good deal on it.

I got the Pork Pie Big Brass for $250 US with a stand. I've sen some good deals on Pork Pie drums.

He said just include it in the email, and he'll just charge a little bit more
