oh jesus. they're making a sequel for "Big Momma's House". i've had enough, of shitty movies that are just insignificant, forgettable, unfunny, and unnecessary. why make a sequel!? jesus. martin lawrence is in a hell of a lot of these bullshit movies, have you noticed? blue streak, national security, big momma's house. goddammit! this is a bit of a rant thread, i guess, but i'm just so pissed off at hollywood's general lack of creativity. and the bastards make money off of this worthless garbage. people are gonna go watch it. i'm pretty sure everyone involved KNOWS they're making worthless ****, but they do it anyway because it means money. this is nauseating.

discuss, i guess, i'm just feeling that numb, previously-latent 2:46AM rage and i thought i'd let it out.

of course there are good movies these days. jarhead was indeed awesome. there are also, however, movies like american pie: band camp (4 IS TOO MUCH) and the aforementioned big momma's house 2 that are just unnecessary.

and yeah i'm sorry, i guess this should go in the media center. but it's kinda on-the-fence because it's not about movies themselves really.

Underworld 2  The first one was retarded enough, what are they possibly going to do with another one? That movie was a prime example of how to take a somewhat cool premise, and turn it into a steaming turd.

yeah well I realized it before but at this point of the day, the knowledge that they were making a BMH sequel just infuriated me. it was just so blatant an example of what i was talking about.

they made 6 star wars movies but they all ruled
i beg to differ, but regardless, those movies did indeed "serve a purpose" in developing the star wars storyline.

we DON'T need to see martin lawrence dress as an old black woman and make shitty jokes (for the second time).

Are you kidding? It was completely necessary as the movie didn't end on the right foot in the first one!

I liked that bit in Big Momma's House where he goes: "I believe it was Jesus who said 'If you don't know me, don't judge me,' and the congregation is all like 'That was Tupac, UMMMMMMMMMMMMM-hmmm!'"

Yeah, it was funny at the time.

Edit: Also, Martin Lawrence is merely a poor man's Eddie Murphy.

Japnanese films pawn all Hollywood films

Case in point Hollywood version of The Ring = Bollocks
Jap and original of The Ring = Amazing

Even if the Japanese cinema is in 'decline' it still beats the anual trite put out for the masses to lap up. However in saying that I quite enjoyed Jarhead.

The worst part is that thousands of people are going to go flock to the theaters to see this. Black people will watch it because there's a "brotha" in it and white teenagers will watch it because there's a black guy in it and they think they're down.

My girlfriend thinks this movie looks hilarious, but she's a fan of such movies as Mouse Trap, The Notebook, Big Fat Liar and Agent Cody Banks, so that doesn't say much. At all.

I thought Final Destination was interesting. The second one was there for the cool death scenes.

I have no reason to watch Big Momma's House 2 in any form. Final Destination 3 I will wait until it gets released to rent.

I liked Blue Streak (I think it was the one with Tim Robbins). I won't buy it, but I'll watch it if it's on TV.

Cartman from South Park (as Awesomo) has the right idea about how Hollywood makes their comedy movies.

"Adam Sandler like, gets stuck on a beach, and falls in love, with a coconut, or something."

"This robot is amazing! He has come up with 800 movie ideas, 700 of which feature Adam Sandler!"

Not quoted word for word, but it seems any conceivable plot can be hashed up and sold these days as long as there is a big star in it. Is there really a need for another Big Mommas House?

Chrysostom

but it seems any conceivable plot can be hashed up and sold these days as long as there is a big star in it.

The very fact that actors become stars ruins the film industry, because the actors become bigger than their parts/the film itself. We should murder all the current actors and actresses (except guys like Jim Carrey and girls like the Jolie) and replace them with unknowns, then when they all get famous, do it again.

The reason we have so many awful movies coming out these days is because it's easy to do so. It's incredibly easy to make five American Pie's a year, but a lot harder to do a Sin City. That's why you see bad movies coming out every week and a really awesome movie coming out maybe once a year.

Well that'd be part of it, but i think it has more to do with the demographic audience that the movie industry is aiming at to make the most money. While Sin City (as an example of an more artfully thought out film that will still appeal to certain audiences) is a great film, their is perhaps a certain majority of people would prefer a dumb comedy, don't appreciate the genre or are children and can't see it. Therefore different types of movies have to be made to accomodate these people and bring in the moolah.

Walk The Line
Match Point
Brokeback Mountain

Revenge of the Sith
Lord of War
Batman Begins
Sin City

I laugh at the people who say there was nothing good in 2005, and yet some of the best stuff was also way in the mainstream, right in front of their cynical, ignorant noses.

People always seem to listen to negative reports over positive reports as well. I'd heard such great reports about Sin City, so I saw it the first weekend and I loved it. I told all of my friends to see it and only one of them came with me when I went a second time. The rest of them all said "no, I heard it was crap".

Then, I had most of those people over for a movie night after Sin City had come out on DVD and we watched it. What did I hear afterwards? "BEST MOVIE EVER!!!111"
