As long as you're on windows, not a mac, itunes does it.

Do you have Itunes? If so:

edit menu
preferences (bottom of edit menu)
advanced tab
importing tab
import ulldown menu: make sure mp3 encoder is selected
setting pulldown menu: choose the quality you want. Higher quality = larger file size
Click ok

select the song(s) you want to convert
rightclick
"convert selection to mp3"
And voila it will convert for you

This only works if you have itunes. I will leave the thread open in case there is a problem. Also, moved to media centre.

It has better encryption but 128kbps is still 128kbps. Quality is unaffected.

whoops. i was going on the basis that when he ripped the cd in itunes or whatnot he converted it to something other than mp3 ergo m4a and 128 aac (default?) is higher quality than 128 mp3

I hate m4a, incompatable with lots of things. The quality is good though.
