NYPD Blue?

Was anyone a fan of this series? I know it's ended, but as you may or may not know I just discovered The Shield a little bit ago and I love it so I was lookin for other shows like it. Opinions on the show? I'm currently downloading season 1 of the Sopranos as well.

Haven't seen The Shield or NYPD Blue. I've heard great things about The Shield though, it pushes limits and such, and it should fill that badspatula quota of the day I'm missing.
