I am very interested in listening to recordings based on the Dorian mode. If you've got anything, or know a link, share it!

OK. As you're all too lazy to provide anything, I'll share a link with you: http://theodoreziras.com/video_clips.html

Check out DORIAN IMPROVISATION. I just got a tips about this man, and YES; it IS worth the download!

I have definately not explored the Dorian mode to the fullest yet.

November in Locrian? That sounds... unnatural. Think I'll have to listen to the song again. Are you sure it's not just the regular minor? I've never noticed anything characteristic (beyond natural minor/major) with it.

Well, it must be some part of it then, the transition part maybe. I had a theory course a year ago in my univeristy and the prof was making examples of different mode and she played a part from november rain, i cant really remeber which part it was.

she might have been wrong, not sure.

Prof as in Professor? Well, she shouldn't be wrong then. I've got to listen to the song and find out. OK.

Also, we all know Santana enjoys a Dorian phrase or fifty-seven, but which other artists would you recommend related to this topic?

Miles Davis' stuff on Kind of Blue and a whole lot of old school Greek melodies.

Neat fact: The Greeks labelled all of their modes with proper names of Greek and Turkish tribes, like Phrygian and Dorian. However, their Phrygian is actually our Dorian today and a bunch of others are garbled as well.
