I have noticed that not many of you guys are very familiar with the great pop-punk bands Canada has to offer. Most of you I'm sure are familiar with the big Canadian bands like Sum41, Simple Plan, Billy Talent, and Alexisonfire, but do not know some of our lesser known bands that put out kick arse music.

There is a some-what large label called "Underground Operations" which has bands signed to it like Closet Monster, Hostage Life, and Protest the Hero. All but one band on this label come from the southern part of Ontario, which is Toronto and the towns around it.

Bands and Links for Underground Operations:

Another band you should all seriously check out who are not on UO is YouthInAsia. Some of you guys may have heard me mention them around the forum, and it is for good reason. They are my personal favorite Canadian pop-punk band. For a sample of their music: http://myspace.com/youthinasia http://purevolume.com/youthinasia

Some more bands you guys might want to check out that are from Canada are: All Systems Go! (http://www.asgcentral.com/), Hedley (http://www.hedleyonline.com/) (I dislike them), Bedouin Soundclash (http://www.bedouinsoundclash.com/), Boys Night Out (http://www.boysnightout.com/), Death From Above 1979 (http://www.deathfromabove1979.com/), Flashlight Brown (http://www.flashlightbrown.com/), Forgotten Rebels (http://www.forgottenrebels.com/), Silverstein (http://purevolume.com/silverstein) and Social Code (http://www.myspace.com/socialcode).

So basically talk about Canadian pop-punk/punk bands, and I hope you guys all can check out some of these bands if you haven't already heard of them!

Yeah, thanks... they didn't have the bio up for them on UO so I thought they might have broken up. It's a shame, I really like their live show and they were really nice to talk to

They quit for who knows what reason.

Maybe London Spicoluk would like to working on the label more...

but they were having too much fun on stage to truly believe they quit completely. Not only that, their bio hasn't yet been taken off the site, like Marylins Vitamins. Neither has BOP though, but they only quit just recently.

Lots of people seemed to like Belvedere (i'm fairly sure they were canadian).

I'm don't like them, which judging by the musical tastes i share with lots of people in here means they'll be loved:

Bombs Over Providence: Good. They sound like Motion City Soundtrack.

The Brat Attack: I like them a lot. Agressive pop punk is always good.

Closet Monster: Sounds really good.

Dead Letter Dept. : Ugh.

Hostage Life: I like.

Protest the Hero: Never listened to them before, but I've heard a lot about them. They rule, besides the vocals.

Youth In Asia: Meh. Vocals are terrible.

Out of those others, I like Bedouin Soundclash, Boys Night Out, Death From Above 1979, and Silverstein.

So Zack can you hook me up with albums from a few of these bands? :)

Is the Uk taxes very high?
Some people get 40% of their income taken away as tax, some people get 60%.
There used to be a tax called super tax which was where they took 99% away as tax. Lots of people moved away, so they changed it.
But it still sucks.
I just feel like i would prefer the lifestyle of other countries, dunno, i have a strange feeling at the moment, like i want to break free from my heritage and culture.

Yeah Fat do the global distribution for Propagandhi (at least since Today's empires. Before then Fat did all distribution for 'em). Back in 'nada (for want of a shortened version of Canada) they have their own record label, "G7 Welcoming Committee".
