View Full Version : The Suicide Machines

The Suicide Machines, probably one of my favorite ska punk bands. I own Destruction By Definition and Battle Hymns, and both are great albums. The songs "New Girl" and "High Anxiety" were both on THPS sound tracks (THPS1 and THUG 2). The Suicide Machines have great ska parts and hardcore parts. By definition you could call them skacore. Haven't checked out the new cd yet. Discuss.

Yeah they're sweet. I've got DBD, Battle Hymns, A Match and Some Gasoline, and War Profiteering is Killing us All. Basically all their good albums. I saw them on stage at Warped Tour last year.
Recently I've been listening to them more, and trying to convince my band to cover "Keep it A Crime"

I only have A Match And Some Gasoline which I bought for "Your Silence," which to this day is one of my favorite songs. It's pretty good, some catch ska stuff (despite alot of it sounding the same) and the hardcore songs rule too. Never got around into looking into their old stuff. The acoustic hidden track ruled too.

Very good band. DBD is one of those albums you could listen to alot. New Girl is a fu(king brilliant way to start an album

New Girl is just a f'ucking brilliant song. Perfect tempo, lyrics, use of the horn section, and the little restrained use of the organ is much cooler than just having one good organ bit in a ska song and then the organist just f'ucking around the rest of the time.

They're not bad. I like how they can write really hardcor-ish material and then do a complete 180 and come up with the catchiest, poppiest, toe-tapping ska numbers out there.

I love War Profiteering. I'd never heard of the band, but I was getting bored with my music so I just went to Boarders and bought the first thing that sounded like it could be cool, and War Profiteering proved to be badass.

I saw them twice one and two years ago, both times with great opening acts, and must say they are one of the better live acts I've seen. But for some reason they never come to my state, or really even close. I'd even take the train to NYC to see them, but they don't go there. The closest they get is boston and that's a two hour drive, it's kind of annoying.
Broken Angels

They tour the US usually like... once a year, if you check their page, sometimes twice, but they always hit boston, buffalo, and New Jersey, and I live in CT (central during college, southwest at home) so I'm never near any of their shows.

I recently saw them open for pennywise and no use for a name. their energy was insane. the vocalist would go in the crowd half the time and mosh with them while still singing. ****ing insane.
and I forget what the term is, but at one of the shows he seperated the audience and had them all bull into eachother. ****ing INSANE.

it's called the wall of death, one of the best local bands here, The Flaming Tsunamis (also a ska-core band) do it all the time during the breakdown to one of their songs. It's always a good way to get the crowd going nuts.

so i saw the suicide machines last night. they were opening for no use for a name which im not that fond of but whatever. the only bad thing was the bands that played before them. versus the world and i am the avalanche. they were pretty bad. they werent even punk bands i dont know why they were playing with the ****in suicide machines. whatever. the suicide machines finally came on and they were sick. it was a wednesday night show so there wasnt a very big crowd but it was still cool. they played: your silence, burning in the aftermath, sos, war profiteering is killing us all, 17% 18 to 25, hey, and a couple other songs that i dont know the names of. AAA was there and their bassist was playing. i dont know what happened to their bassist but whatever his name is from AAA was cool. their set was kindof short which im still bummed about but it was a sick show.
