I've been wanting to inlay my RBX775 for ages (it has none), but not anything permanent. Today I found some little gold stars my girlfriend uses to make gift cards with.
Here's the result !

I'm quite happy with them to be honest. They are easily removed and don't leave any residue. I may look on eBay for some other shapes to trial.
Opinions ?

it does suite it and as long as you like it, that's what matters
But personally, I think you've completely ruined it in a easily reversable way :)

Glow in the dark stickers would be cool.
The stars look pretty nice. Its good that you can remove them easily too.

I like, works on that bass.
I agree with the people above me to do glow in the dark stars. Those'd be awesome.

How about swirls?
Or you could do them offset.

You should put the 'inlays' in akward positions (eg. a fret lower or higher) and let some noob play the bass and laugh at them while they **** up because of the inlays.:) Haha.

I'm actually going to put a custom inlay on the guitar I recently defretted. Not sure what though. I was thinking of maybe something with the word "REBEL" in it for my mom (as her name is "Rebel"....really....check her birth certificate).

Back when I had my P-bass covered in stickers, I put the words "Stop the Pop" on the fretboard in cut out magazine letters so it looked like a ransom note of sorts:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v205/aleach/FenderP-BassBody2.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v205/aleach/FenderP-BassNeck.jpg
Then I saved her and took all the stickers and crap off, did some upgrading and now she looks like this:

I also had an old Ibanez TR70 bass I covered with fur and put this sparkly gold crap on the fretboard and pickups:

I love the colors on the remade sticker bass. Same color/pg as my OLP Stingray rip off.
And the fur bass is hot.

I did that with kinda glittery smiley face stickers on my old squier P. It looked pretty rad when the light caught them. Best photo i could find:

Wouldn't they just fall off really easy if they are stuck on? looks nice though never the less :)
I already started cutting out an awesome mother of pearl inlay on my experimental new bass, will post pics when done. :P

Well the 'glue' on the sticker isn't very strong, but more than enough to keep it held on. Since the strings don't contact it when fretted, they won't be going anywhere.

it's different ....................... i dunno if i like it or not, i'm guessing it's a like it or hate it kind of thing.
i wouldn't mind having a bass covered in carpet. or imitation grass ...............

Actually, that is my bass. ZZ Top used really shaggy white fur didn't they? Those guitars are classic. Mine was my first bass, an Ibanez TR70. One day I decided that I wanted a bass covered in fur, so I went to the fabric strore (the gayest place I've ever been. wow) and got about a yard of that faux fur crap. I simply traced the front and back (same shape, mirror image obviously) of the body, cut the pieces out and used hot glue to attach. Then I cut a strip about as thick as the bass (a little more) and used that to cover the edges. If the fur is shaggy enough, you won't notice and seems or edges. To cut out the holes for the pickups, bridge, etc, I just felt around on the top to find them, and cut them out. The fur is very forgiving if you miss an edge a bit. You can always push is back a bit and reglue. Be careful, when cut, the fur sheds like a beast (no pun intended). Be prepared to go over it many a time with a vaccuum cleaner and be prepared to pick bits of it off your clothes ever time you play it for the first few times. Hot glue works great to glue the fur down and I even went right over the pickguard. A very simple project.

I think they're called stickers for a reason....that reason possibly being that they STICK.

and for the ibanez, P I M P....kick ***:chug:
to me the plain fretboard still looks the best.

I've been in the fabric store many, many times. It's always a different experience everytime. :amaze:
Machines, the stars actually suit the bass rather well, but I would prefer to have no inlays on my fretboard. Inlays bother me for some reason. I don't understand why.
