Now it's just dead. That sucks!

Was it an elixer or some other coated string? That would be pretty funny....

I've noticed its a bad idea to boil individual strings, as boiling takes down the life of strings. Therefore if one string was boiled once more than any other of the other strings it would be more prone to break than the others.

My G snapped when I was putting it back on.

So now I just deal with dead strings until I can afford new ones.

I have never failed with boiling. Last time though, there was some yellow junk in the boiling-water :/ gross!

Why would you boil just one string?

Cause there was a dead spot on the fretboard which i thought was to do with that part of the string being messed. But it turns out its not.

What kind of string is it?

When you boil your strings you need to pull the strings right out of the water while it's still boiling so the water that got inside the string will quickly evaporate. Otherwise it will ruin the string from the inside. Did you do that?

I've never heard of boiling strings hurting them other than making them sound extra bright.

i love boiling my strings, but it's only good for like 3 days before they die...

great to do if you don't have any money before a show and need new strings

you probably boiled yours too much, or made some stupid mistake

I've found it can deaden them if the pan you boiled them in wasn't spotlessly clean. If it still has the remains of lasts nights bolognaise, don't expect it to do your strings any good :p.

Dont boil. Boiling is old school technology.

Soak your strings in Denatured Alcohol (about $5 at a hardware store) for about an hour and shake it up every now and then. This is the best way to clean deposits off of metal.
