well, after 5 basses so far I'm sorta itching to decide what my next instrument will be. I always like to have goals. This would probably be my last bass purchase for about 5 and i'd like to get something high-end. I have been thinking about a few different options:
American Fender Jazz (i would probably sell my geddy lee sig)
American Fender Precision
Warwick Corvette standard 4 or 5 string
pretty much any G&L (i've been thinking maybe an SB-2 or a L-2000)
Music Man Stingray
_____________ <=== (your ideas!)
They all would suit me and i can get them here easily. I would consider other companies like schecter but i only see them around here as trade-ins, so not very often. I need advice! :)

fodera yin-yang:p
but if your like most people and are a bit shorter on cash...find a Thumb or a Streamer Stage II somewhere, they are both amazing:smash:

maybe go for something better rather than buying basses which are all pretty similar.
with a name like that you best be in britain...
so theres loadsa small manufactures who can make you incredible basses at much lower prices than ritters and alembics and other such ott makes...
Status-Graphite: cant promote them enough - love my status, so versatile and build like a tank, but somehow its the lightest 5string iv ever had round my neck - definately worth a look, plus theres a load going for cheap second hand around the uk.
otherwise find out about lutheirs near you, otherwise different basses you might wanna check out which i can reccomend...
Peavey Cirrus series
Cort Artisan A series (highly reccomended)

Though, Warwick is something ive been wanting for a long time.... hm.
What's your top price limit anyways?

The Geddy Lees are well built, and I think are almost as good as some of the American Jazzes, so that wouldn't be much of a difference. I've heard amazing things about G&L but never actually played one cause no local store carries them. Warwicks sound amazing, but i find all of them ugly as hell. You could always look into a custom bass, or even building one yourself

thanks for all your suggestions. I don't really want anything custom, since those really don't look to be what I want. There really isn't any particular price limit, as I'm merely looking for my next goal to head towards. However, most of the ones on my list are fairly close in price ($1000-1600).

sorry for the DP but *bump*
to answer some questions though..... Right now i own a Hondo acoustic bass guitar, a Fender Geddy Lee jazz bass, an Epiphone Thunderbird, and a Tribute by G&L SB-2. I've actually thought about building my own bass, but i need more research before i do that. where are some good resources for bass building and electronics wiring?
