I didn't see a thread about them, so I decided to make one.

I can't tell you what genre they are, but they have a lot of members from the Arrogant Sons Of Bitches. They give away all their music to download for free on their website, make free t-shirts at concerts, and a bunch of other cool stuff like that.

Check 'em out. :thumb:

Good band. I have an album, (something about Long Island, I can't remember the whole name) it's pretty good.

They are decent. I don't know much about them and my listening of them has been pretty limited.

I really love this band, I think someone described them once as a fusion of happy hardcore, punk and ska. I reckon "Album Minus Band MP3" was easily one of my favourite albums of last year. Someone was trying to arrange for them to come to England not long ago but I think they chose to get the Arrogant Sons of Bitches instead, which should still be pretty cool. If only I could actually get to Bedford, though :(

I emailed them trying to book them in my town, but I'm not sure if it's going to happen.

Aside from that, I love the music.

I've been meaning to check them out. No one told me I could get all their stuff for free from their site.

I am now getting it all. I love bands that put up their mp3s.

They're frackin' awesome. I don't understand why these bands don't just put all their songs into a handy zip folder though.

Wow. And now I just went and listened to Arrogant Sons of Bitches. I have been missing out to the extreme. I am going to need an ASOB album.

They have a discography thing out, ASOB is amazing.

I got both of the albums a week or 2 ago and I thought neither was very interseting.

ASOB's discography is great. Though Jeff has improved greatly as a singer over the years. Maybe 5 songs are comprehensible on the whole discography. But the music and hornwork is great through the whole thing.

Chris Murray is what made me think I could record a good album all by myself.

Bomb the Music Industry made me think I could do it without actually buying drums and a keyboard.

I haven't done it yet mind you. But it's in the works.

On an ASOB note... has anyone listened to 3 Cheers for Dissapointment yet? Came out on the 19th.

I prefer ASOB to BTMI!

ASOB is more listenable.

Kithkin

Only their new stuff. Just look at the new recording of Lets go Nowhere or Kill The President vs the ones on old albums. You can actually understand most of the words in the verses now.

Billy

Wait, so on the website, the MP3s on there is the whole album? Sweet.

Lukeh
01-30-2006, 10:02 AM
I can't decide who I like more really, it depends what mood I'm in.
From what I've heard so far I prefer the old version of So Let's Go Nowhere over the new one, but perhaps I need to listen some more... Well, other than that ASOB's stuff just seems to get better and better. It's just a shame that they're splitting up by the end of the year :(

Has anyone heard the set where they did nothing but Radiohead covers? It's insane, I think someone posted a link to it in the Ska Education thread.

It's ok tho Luke at least they're touring the UK before they go :) Well, when I say touring, I mean 3 dates

Lukeh
01-30-2006, 02:21 PM
Hahaha, yeah. It's nice of them but so far all they've got is a date in Bradford (which is about a million miles away from Brighton) and a date in London that they haven't even booked yet?! I got asked by the head of their UK street team to arrange the 3rd date over MySpack but I had to shamefully decline seeing as I have no knowledge of how to do that sort of thing at all =\

Nah I believe they have a date in like, Leeds as well on the Sunday. The London gig is being arranged, it's pretty much certain to go on, as Big D's UK booking agent is sorting it out, either to be put on in Harlow or in central London (fingers crossed for that), with Catch-It Kebabs

I love BTMI! so hard. They're one of my favorite bands. I just wish they would record more stuff. I prefer them to ASOB actually, even though the horns are missing. The sweet *** electronic organs and synth lines makes up for it though. And the cheesy computer drums are just cool to the limit. God this band rocks.

Btw Lukeh, nice user title. (;

Wowo, I barely I knew of any of that. Thanks for the update! It's good to know that their tour is in better hands than just that of the rich kid that's paying for them to fly into England and I'll definitely be at that gig if it's in central London.

Sweboy: Haha thanks, only a genius like Rosenstock could get away with writing a song about using facial hair for guerrilla office-warfare.

Hehe, no problem, that kid must be seriously rich! My friend Chris goes on the ASOB forum, he told the Eddy guy that I was an ASOB fan in London and put him in contact. He asked me for a lot of advice about the show, what venues to put it on, what bands to have support etc. etc. He asked me to co-promote it and I kind of said I would help out, but then he's been keeping in contact and told me about the new developments. If I get anymore news I'll post it :)

If it's in central London I'll obviously be there :D If it's further out I'll probably be there too.

Yeah, by the look of his MySpack he is pretty wealthy but I guess that isn't really a bad thing for now. Thanks for the updates, I'm looking forward to the show!

Alrighty. I need your guys's help. An ASOB album is required. I've already downloaded all the BtMI stuff, and I've listened to it all to death. It's amazing, and I'm needing more.

So if anyone wants to IM/YSI an ASOB album to me, I'll eat your children. Or no eat them, whichever you prefer.

IM me at Fritzplaysbass, I have pretty much all the studio recordings ASOB has done, I've had the luck to see ASOB, BTMI, and Jay Tea a total of about 20 times. ASOB is my all time favorite band at this point. I had the fortune of attending their CT cd release along with their new york cd release at CBGB with The Flaming Tsunamis and The Fad, which was an amazing show. Their live shows have the most energy of any band I've seen. They have broken up twice before, so if they come back I'd be far from surprised.

Do they have a live album out? You need to get on soulseek so I can rape you.

Fritz Plays Bass

they have no "live albums" per se, but they have tons of sets recorded, if you make your way over to the forums on Kill Normal Records' website they have a site on some thread where you can dl them all, or again you can get a few of them off me on aim, Fritzplaysbass, just IM and I'll add you so you can get them. Speaking of which, I haven't seen Thieves and Bastards online if he wants their albums he's on my list so he can get them.

Also, in BTMI related news, they are releasing a 7" record with the Rick Johnson Rock and Roll Machine, all the money goes towards Dan Lang-Gunn, founder of Kill Normal Records, member of many local bands, who had cardiac arrest somewhere around two thanksgivings ago and went into a coma. He's out and undergoing rehabilitation. There's only 600 of the 7"'s being made, so again, check that out.

Just an FYI, if you check BTMI's myspace they have a cover of "If Assholes Got Awards I'd Have A Trophy Case" which is originally by Infamous Jake, whose lead singer is the guy who they're doing all the benefit work for. My feelings on it are kinda mixed, I think the original's better. If you guys haven't yet, check out Infamous Jake & The Pinstrip Mafia, good band.
