The Skull and Crossbones seems a little childish but go for it!

Go to a Guitar Center or something and try a few basses out...

No, the nazis took it, reversed it, and put it on a 45 degree angle.

speaking of war signs n where they came from....anyone know where the maltese cross came from...my friend thought it started in the crusades and i think hes right but then in C.O.D. it's in the corner of the nazi flags so did the germans just use that too or what?

It's actually a Hindu sign for justice and the law. You see it everywhere in India.

I'm pretty sure it started in the First Crusade.

Well considering... people think all Hindus and Buddist are indian.. i geuss he wasnt worng in a sense... but tis all bull**** anyways... because the Japanese have a swastika also.

Also the Iron Cross is a christian symbol..

and Arian is a word hitler stole from buddist... if i remember correctly(I dont think i do)

funny how his race was 'perfect' but he stole from races that werent supreme... I geuss perfection, and all the intelligences that come with it tlel you stealing is supreme and justified... Criminality is the best way in and out.

maltese would probably be referring to the knights of malta who were church knights during the crusades and considering that the holy roman emperor was fairly close to the church and that the holy roman empire lasted until sometime in the late 18th/early19th centuries it would stand that the awards that soldiers were given would not have changed much since they were instituted.

as far as the swastika goes here is a quote from wikipedia, "The swastika is a holy symbol in Hinduism, Jainism, Heathenry and Buddhism. In the West, it is more widely known as symbol of Nazism. The motif seems to have first been used by early inhabitants of Eurasia. However, it was also adopted in Native American cultures, seemingly independently."

as far as independently goes this is a common theme throughout human culture that many symbols are repeated throughout the world but are usually slightly different. like the hindu swastika usually has dots inside each square formed by the spokes. on a slight tangeant one of the symbols that is commonly repeated is that of the cross in chrisianity and that it was also widely seen in celtic/druidic literature pre-dating christianity in ireland by hundreds of years. those celtic cross tatoos are actually a pagan symbol which a lot of the people that have them do not know >:P

but yeah if you only have 200 bucks get an ibanez like the guy earlier said

a) to everyone on here, no one really cares and your discussion is going nowhere.

b) stop the mindless wikipedia hatred. if you think he's wrong, point out where his information is wrong, don't imply that he's insane and probably wrong just because of a source.

edit: threadstarter! i would definitely go for an ibanez for the $200 budget.

wikipedia was the first thing that came up to support my point but since im majoring in history and plan on being a high school history teacher i knew that stuff already anyways >:P

however, if youd like i can spend 15 minutes finding the official site of the holy roman empire (hah) to get the specific dates it was around or i can go grab my book on symbology and copy the parts where it speaks about the swastika and about common symbols throughout human culture but i do not particularly care to spend that much time to prove a fairly meaningless point to someone over the internet

and btw for really obscure references wikipedia is not as bad as you think and for things like dates of historical events/empires it is fairly accurate

since you doubt me i give you 3 minutes of my time here are some other sites about swastikas and the holy roman empire feel free to browse if you want 2 know more but i think you will find that i am right :P

You're all wrong about the swastika thing..

See..
Germans = Beer
Beer = Carlsberg
Carlsberg = Used the swastika in their logo in the beginning of the 20th century.

Therefore.. Germans = Swastika
