So.. I'm applying for extra music in a new school that I'm going for.
It's basically that you play in a band, do some gigs and so on ^^
So.. in one part of the audition you're supposed to play two or three song on your instrument(bass, not penis).
But i have no idea what songs to play.. so this is the part where you help me.
I'm thinking of going for two different genres, like one jazz/funk/slap/yeah.. and one rock/metal piece.
Tips ahoy

As said before.. It's like a music class at this school I'm going to.. where you play in a band.
And the band is going to play pop, rock, jazz, salsa.. kinda everything.
And yeah.. i converted from guitar to bass like a half year ago, but I can play pretty much all of Iron Maidens stuff.
The auditions are held in one month :o

I'd say for your first genre play either Walkabout, Soul to Squeeze or Californication. All by the RHCP. Or Are You In, Hilikus or Sink Beneath the Line. All by Incubus. These are all funky sounding lines that should raise some eye brows.
And for Rock/metal...ummmm Death Blooms by Mudvayne. Or Roulette Dares by The Mars Volta. Death Blooms is a lot of eighth note rooting with a bit of slapping in it. And Roulette dares has rooting in wierd tim sigs, and the verse is very melodic and fun to play.
Hope that helps.

For the Jazz bit, I'd play School Day's by Stanley Clarke. It's not stricly jazz but the solo is very jazzy, plus, it lets you show off the groove!
And for the rock part, I'd go for Lone Star from Stuart Hamm's third solo album, The Urge. It really lets you show of the slap chops in a band setting, and just flat out rocks. But if youcan't be arsed to learn another 7 minute track, try Call of The Wild from his second album. It rocks, and has a kini slap solo in it too!

the best thing you can do for a band is read music.
but if you're looking for a song, Jaco did it all, i'd say go with that.

Oh.. how many times haven't i heard that.. I should seriously learn how to read music..
But yeah, as I said.
In _one part_ of the audition you play songs..
Then there's some theory parts and so on..
Is it possible to learn how to read music decent in a month? :P

haha, I really like your name ;)
If I where you I'd play one IM-song and one funksong, that would show that you can do alot of styles.

Heh.. yeah.. it's a tribute to a bakery we had here in town..
The employees were retarded and stuff.. so people from a school nearby went there on the breaks and bought buns and cookies and stuff for playing money.. I guess that's why they shut down :(
I choose between this one and "Daskman".. wich I really like too ;)
And a bump on the "Is it possible to learn how to read music decent in one month" question :p
