Camel thread

anyone heard of camel? they are a prog band from the 70s. i have only heard 2 of their albums, moonmadness and mirage, but i think they kick ***! camel doesn't seem very popular :P though they seriously deserve a lot more attention. usually prog bands take a while for me to like. a lot of times people think prog bands make long, boring, complicated, over-the-top songs, but camel is definitely an exception. first time i heard moonmadness, i instantly loved it! the songs manage to be interesting and catchy and progressive at the same time! the type of music is similar to pink floyd, but not quite the same. there are a lot of awesome spacey sound effects (especially in the song "lunar sea"), and you just keep wanting to hear more and more. some parts of the songs sound jazzy, some sound jamaican, and some sound like hard-rock and theres interesting guitar, keyboard and flute solos. and they blend it seamlessly together. i can see why mikael akerfeldt from opeth liked moonmadness so much. so...yes....i will shut up now.....but has anyone ever heard of camel? if you havent, then try listening to it!!....it is very great music

I'm doing a write-up on Camel this weekend. I'll try and send out a couple to go with it. They're my favorite 70s prog band and Latimer's guitar tone makes me happy inside.

I hope I do them justice. I'm thinking of sending out Rain dances and Rajaz to the people in that thread. Do you think that's a fair representation of the old and new sound?

EDIT: Whoops, you haven't heard those. They'll make great additions to your collection in that case. :)
