More band threads you cry? Ok then...

Goldfinger are one of my all time favourite pop-punk/ska bands, and have been since I was like 16.

They formed in 1994, coming out of the LA area. They, along with No Doubt, Sublime, Reel Big Fish and Less Than Jake, contributed to the miniture of Ska-Punk in the late 90's.

The band currently have 5 Full length albums, each one bursting with fun, pop-punk and ska songs:
Goldfinger (1996)
Hang Ups (1997)
Stomping Ground (2000)
Open Your Eyes (2002)
Disconnection Notice (2005)

My Personal Favourite Albums are Hang Ups and Stomping Ground.
Fav Tracks:
Superman
Spokesman
Open Your Eyes
99 Red Balloons
San Simeon
Counting the Days
99 Red Balloons
My Head
If Only

I only like Superman, Mable, and 99 Red Balloons...the German verse in 99 Red Balloons is just ace. :thumb:

Mable's a funny song, too.

She said, "That looks like a tube of cookie dough."

Oh man I love Goldfinger. Super sexy band.

They have a few mediocre songs but I've never heard anything I dislike by them. All their albums that I have are pretty solid.

Yeah, I like Goldfinger quite a bit, especially 99 Red Balloons. It makes me sad though when I go to cd shops and Goldfinger are the only band in the ska section :(

At least your CD stores have a ska section :-\

I'm seeing them at GIAN, and have loved them for years.
Tony Hawks 1 and Kingpin = me hearing Superman.
Back in primary school, that was one of my favourite songs. They were one of the first un-giant bands that I loved. Before them I only liked Blink, Green Day, The Foo's, The Chili's and some other poppy stuff like Outkast.

Last night I was watching re-runs of Recovery, this music show from the 90s, and Goldfinger performed live on there. It was from 1996, but I'm not sure which song it was.

And I also love '99 Red Balloons.' One of the best covers ever.

I was gonna make a Goldfinger thread, but I kept forgetting.

I love Goldfinger, they are now one of my favorite bands. I have Stomping Ground, and Hang-Ups, I'm in love with both.

I've seen 'em twice too, once supporting RBF (They were the reason I went), and at Leeds festival in '04. They're a great live band, with tonnes of energy.

I heard they played with YouthInAsia which would have been an amazing show, and I think one of the members in the band is a dj at the Edge (Toronto's Rock Radio Station)

They're a pretty good band. They should do more ska stuff though. Disconnection notice is rather poppy in places though, and they ruined Behind the Mask with that woman talking about vegans and ****. I think Hang Ups is my fave album by them.

I saw them live last year in a joint concert with Reel Big Fish. They were pretty good, even though they were only up for about 30-40 mins while RBF were up for almost 2 hours.

Ross
02-02-2006, 03:57 PM
Yeah, I get sick of the vegan thing.

I detox my system with NOFX's Liberal Animation after listening to Goldfinger. "Vegetarian Mumbo Jumbo" really puts me back in the real world :)
