i play in a straight up, in ur face metal band, been in this for almost a yr now.. now the basslines in our originals are all.. well.. pretty boring.. i dont stick to the roots, i experiment a bit.. but getting to the point, i wanna have basslines that are really "moving" and "groovy".. maybe like the ytse jam or something like that, but i can never seem to do it.. i always start of trying to break down a scale nd doing stuff with that but it never works.. advice please.. :thumb:

well try to put in different notes to outline whatever the guitarist is doing, ive been doing stuff like this lately and its been working pretty well
I'm also in this hardcore metal band and you know what it wouldn't sound too good if you stray too much from rooting, it needs that OMPH and power

Don't look at the guitar, or even ask him what he's playing. Guess and check.
