recording to computer

I just have one question. In school my teacher loaded "Garage Band" onto one of the computers and wanted me to test it out. So she gave me an adapter to attach to the end of my cable and I plugged it right in. Can I use that same adapter to record onto something like soundclick etc.... or do i need something more?

you can use that to record to audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/)or another audio recording application, and then upload the mp3 to soundclick.

Assuming it's a 1/4" to 1/8" adapter, you should be able to use it.
