Hi hats, then Ride, then crash, then anything else, that's the right way to upgrade.
Here is where you should buy from (http://www.cymbalsonly.com/)
They are in the US, but I'm sure shipping can't be too bad.

ok fast crashes got it....but what bout the other series of em...like the projection's and the medium's these any good? i think i am gonna get osme a customs but what series? and also anyone know any cheap place to buy em online in the uk?

Well I own Sabian Pro Sonix and I have to say that I am very impresses - the hi-hats are not as good but the ride and crash are beautiful.
I wouldn't rule out smaller cymbal brands like Wuhan, Stagg etc - they may not be endorsed by the top drummers (like Travis Barker :naughty:) but some of their stuff is pretty damn good - and MUCH cheaper too! :thumb:
If you're gonna go for customs, I'd recommend K Custom -sweet as hell but very pricey.

If you want a serious answer that will take you somewhere, go with some Istanbul Agop cymbals. I think the best place to get them is cymbalsdirect or something?

i would go for A custom med. thins. these crashes are versatile and anything thicker than med thin nees a hammer instead of a stick.
For the ride, you might want to go A custom ping ride as these are bright and pingy as you can probably grasp from the name
or you could but an aax stage set and then buy an extra crash. That would just about fit you budget.
links to sites if you want them

The drummer for my band plays a Ping Ride, and when you knock the crap out of it it sounds brilliant. Although not great drumming, i think Lars used one on St.Anger and it sounds great.

I've got a 21" A Custom Sweet Ride and 17" Projection Crash and they are LOVELY. I'd highly recomend them both.

Buy a nice ride... Maybe a 20" Sabian HH ride. Or a Zildjian Custom K ride. China? Get a Wuhan, cheap and sounds good for metal. As for a crash, I've always liked the Zildjian Custom A crashes. They sound nice.

The traditional way to upgrade is Hats>Ride>Crash(es)>Effects. This is because people tend to upgrade in order of most important. Most important basically means "most played". It makes sense if you think about it. You want to listen to something nice, so you upgrade the thing you play most. Then next most and so on.

There's a big difference between America's prices and England's prices.

WRONG!!!!!!!!
Ride then w/e a cheap ride is SOOO much easier to point out than bad hats or crashes. I say ride hats crash. Ride is deffinately first

How come?
Because, thats the usual order of use(and, therefore, wear), my hat's get tons more use than my crash.

if he orders form the US, he'll get raped on shipping.
With £400 you can a professional set of hats and a ride if you shop round. Don't just buy because someone on a forum reccomended it. Try all the cymbals and pick the ones you want, regardless of the brand/name/price.
That's what I did and I love my setup.

Please dont remind me of that album...That snair makes me curl up in a ball:upset:
Also look at Zildjian A's...They have the sound to play heavy medal to Ploka...amaizing cymbals
