My birthday is on Monday and so I'm wonderin what I should ask for. My parents were gonna get me a new computer (around 1000) but they said I can just use one we have which is pretty good.

So now I'm back on drums and I dunno what to get. I have this already:

http://www.musicianforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=426939

I was thinking of getting an electric set but I don't know anything about electric's. So help me decide what to get, anything drum related no budget yet.

GO!

Im not spoiled. Only around birthdays lol. Becuase everyone chips in, my parents my grandma and my brother all chip in. I don't think they'll get me something 1000 or around there on there own or at all. But my mom will like the fact that there will be less or no noise becuase of an electric set.

I'm liking the mic idea.

And my dad doesnt fish, and I don't wanna cook at the moment. :p

for a small B-day gift, you should ask for the lil' attachment that goes between your IC hat stand and your IC pedal there. those things are handy!

damn boy, your kit is good! i would get mics! I have the Roland TD-3's with the mesh snare, they are quite nice, but buying the amp and stuff is extra money that you forget about when thinking about buying electrics.

I wouldnt get an amp. Not yet atleast. What else would not come with the set?

let's see, with my set i got one cymbal, one ride, three toms, one mesh snare, hi hat pad, hi hat pedal and the drum module.

So you would need something to hook in to listen to it, a.k.a headphones or an amp, and pedals, and you already have those, obviously.

and yeah it supports double bass.

also, after i got the set i bought some chords to hook it into my computer, but those are pretty cheap.

ALSO, if you get headphones, don't get ones with the small input like on normal mp3 player headphones, because then you'll have to get one of those big adapters and when you play they wobble around sometimes and mess up the sound of the kit.

Actually I like those angles, but after alot of consideration I flattened them out. But I couldnt flatten the 12" out becasue it's to big so now I have:

8 10 ride 16

Heads I said I'm gonna by myself. A rack is a pretty good idea as well. Right now it's electric set, mics, or rack.

*tut* *tut* You shouldve wrote your list a long time ago.

I say go for an electric kit but go for a Yamaha not a Roland so you can afford an amp or something else for you electric kit like an extra pad or cymbals or something. Or get some more stuff for your acoustic kit like more cymbals, another few toms or whatever.

Massik Kretal
01-27-2006, 04:50 PM
Well I looked into electric sets...

What would be the smartest move...

1. Buy a Roland TD12 Drum Module ($1,295.00) and add my money to get a kick and snare pad.

2. Buy a whole set with a lower end module but more pads. The Roland TD3SV V-Compact Drum Set. ($800-ish)

3. Some other idea lol.

I was thinking if I can get an electric set from my parents. And then getting either a rack or.....CONCERT TOMS! :naughty: with my money.

Whatever happened to you getting a new set?

Massik Kretal
01-27-2006, 09:58 PM
I found the ultimate set....

YAMAHA MAPLE ABSOLUTE

It's godly, and costs alot. So I'm gonna hold off till next year, becuase I would still like to "upgrade" this set or get something I need more.

Quinto

The thing with buying a cheaper module, is that it will only come with enough inputs for the a simple five piece, hi-hat, ride, and maaaaaybe two crashes... If anything, I'd go halfers with your parents and get the Roland TD20. Its a bit pricey, but I looked around at electric drums for a year, and tried about evey set out, and none of them even sound similar to real drum, except the TD20.... Anyways, that's my two cents.... Hope it helps! :chug:

Electric Requiem
01-29-2006, 06:41 PM
my choice for electric would be to ask for
- a rack
- a module
- some e-cymbals and an e-hat
- an amp
than build the toms, snare and kick yourself
http://forum.drumshed.org/forumdisplay.php?f=42

Im going to be converting my snare to electric this week, then Im going to start building an entire electric set and sell my acoustic by summer time

And no I'm not. It's not like this happens every birthday or every day or w/e your thinking. Somehow my parents decided that they were willing to put down a grand on a new computer, which there not getting anyway.

But how about we stay on topic, which is DRUMS (remember?), and help me out here with finding and/or choosing what to get.

Thank you.
