it's a cymbal, just a small one. mount it wherever the hell you want.
think of it as like a 4" splash.

hey phil, why don't you flip that?
i always got a better sound outta hitting the bottom lip, which is easier if it's upside down?
might be worth a shot anyway.

that's perfectly fine too, some rides have ugly bells so people find a nice ice bell. just MAKE SURE you put at least 1 felt between the ride and the ice bell, so that there's no metal to metal contact.

morgan rose does usually keep a zilbel on his ride, john keeps his bell up by his hi-hats though, i dont know about lee or wengren though.

What type though?
are you going for sabian zildjian or pasite?
do you still have your heart set on an ice bell because the ice bell is a flat disc and i believe only comes in one size(correct me if i'm wrong)
but zildjian is like a thick mini china that comes in 6 or 9.5 measurements. Only problem with bells IMO is that they ring for sssssooooo long. If they rang the amount of time the bell on a ride does than i'd definately grab one. I had a zil-bel but i never liked it(for the reasons stated above)

tommy is rockin' one on his 22'' K Heavy Ride, and wengren has his somewhere, or atleast he used to, i'm fairly sure he uses it on Down with the Sickness, and maybe a few others, but i think he has one

i know, k heavy rides are so great, but, tommy lee doesn't strike me as the smartest person, except for the fact he can get chicks to flash him on camera
