How can I minimize the hiss of my amp when the gain is up when I am recording. I have a peavey bandit 112

The only concievable way would be to turn down the treble and the gain, because chances are you're using more gain than you actually need. (it's a common mistake made by many people.

Also, I'm pretty sure there's no presence dial either.

There is on my Bandit 112, it is an older model though.

Try turning down the gain a bit, I remember my Bandit had an annoying hiss on higher volumes though, not much you can do about it.

I also have a peavey supreme head and 2 older (probably 80's) peavey pa speakers I guess they would be (4 10" speaker on top of each other vertically in one column)? Do you guys think this would have less of that annoying hiss. It sucks having that on my recordings.

Right, turn down your gain.

All amps have this artifact. You can notch certain frequencies in the highs if you have a parametric EQ at your disposal. Very comonly a simple noise remover Plugin will rid you of a lot of the hiss and fizz.

That and turning down your gain.

But on my bandit the only way to achieve the tone i want is through turning my gain up all the way. Otherwise it doesn't quite do it for me. I guess I'll jsut have to get a fx pedal that will get the sound for me without the ****ing hiss

You're joking, right?

If you're not going to listen to advice, your recordings will continue to sound terrible. Just saying.

okay i don't mean i turn my gain all the way up to 11, but when I get to the point I prefer it gives me hiss. I'm not ignoring advice or I wouldn't have made the thread.

okay alternant approach.

you mic your amp right? after you send XLR into your mixer(i hope) you need to use the "effects loop" or "insert" to add on a noise gate on to your rig. Since the hiss is coming from your amp you can't chain it on to your guitar effects rig. Theres some desent noise gates out there for rack gear and single effects also some multi-effect processors have them now.

Any other questions just keep posting in this thread.
