I have an Applause (Ovation) Celebrity shallow body, accoustic/electric.
It's ****ing gorgeous, I love her, but she's still got the same strings she had when I got her, and they're nothing special. Anyone have any suggestions they know will sound great on her? I'm no expert on string design, but Mose tells me there's a big difference between everyday steels and really quality strings.

Buy some GHS acoustic strings. I use them and I rarely break a string because they're strong stuff. :D

Would you rather it floating around in the guitar?

This forum is meant for basic questions like this.

noob! :p

Nice post, noob.

TS, I would also suggest GHS. DR work well too. I also avoid D'addario.

Also, if you want your strings to last, I suggest that you get some cleaning products.

i use elixirs, i get them from musiciansfriend.com so they're not like 20 dollars per set,
elixir also makes phosphur bronze strings now too, what kinda sucks, is i bouught a bunch of elixir medium guage strings to stock up, and then they release the phosphur bronze's. oh well,
also coated strings last longer.

Yeah, I know how to clean and all that...I just haven't used enough different stings, because I seem to be very lucky about not breaking them, so I wasn't sure what would be cool for my guitar. I ended up taking a suggestion of Martin SP Bronze Lights.
And, slipknot_asshole, they don't want ANY question in the guitar section. I just always think of 'beginner' questions as "What's the difference between guitar and bass" or "If I take the neck off will it still stay tuned?"

and don't forget "what's a pickup". i got that one the other day from some kid in my guitar class.

Yes, lol, things like that.

I was thinking there might be some Average Questions, but no, just beginner.

Definitely go for Elixir phosphor bronze nanos. Best sounding strings ive heard to date.

Although a guy at my local shop keeps pushing cleartone on me...
