Alright I'm a tad bit confused. I've read pages and pages about midi but I'm still having a hard time with the concept. If I bought a midi controller (looks like a keyboard right?), and plugged it in and pressed record in fruity loops, would it record the rythm I play on the controller? I just need help with the whole concept, or does it just take experience?

Midi is beyond what you are thinking. I don't know how to use it in fruity loops. But for my purposes, I use Sonar 5 and Dimension pro.
Dimension Pro is a software synthesizer that allows my to play my midi controller as a keyboard and it'll play back whatever sounds I have selected, then I can record myself play and get realistic sounds and whatnot.

Listen to that. Each individual sound exists as I played it in realtime. Those sounds are created by a software synthesizer (Soft synth) and recorded to an audio track.

midi as a million things, but yes you can plug your midi contoller into your computer, hit record in fruity and it can record the rhythm and notes you play, then you can use whatever sound you want to play it back, but there are soooooo many things that midi is capable of

Ok, how does midi always sound like it's timing is perfect though? Do you hear anything when you record and press a key on the controller? (I understand that there's a whole lot I don't know about it, I'm just trying to get this much)

midi's timing is perfect only when you use a midi notation software.
Finale, Noteworthy, Mozart, there's more but I don't know anything besides those.
or it could have just been recorded by a good player
