1) I'm planning to get a power attenuator eventually for my Fender Hot Rod Deluxe. It's 40 watts driving a single 12" speaker. I wanted to get a Weber one because they are quite affordable. Which one would I get?
2) Could I make the Hot Rod Deluxe act as a head? It has an external speaker output, so I'm wondering if I could drive a 4x12 cabinet or is that just crazy?
Thanks.

This doesn't answer your question, but is the Hot Rod Deluxe good for mellow jazz tones?
Im talking about this chord-
5x555x
I'd rather just ask here than crowd the main forum with another thread.

It has excellent cleans if thats one you mean. You can get nice warm tones as well as brights out of it. I play an LP through it and the tone is definitely mellow. I wish I could record some for you but it's night and I have to go back to school tomorrow and I can't lug it there.. (sigh). It also has reverb if you like that in your tone.
It's a real popular amp, I'm sure if you ask around you could get somebody to record it for you. You can probably find it at a nearby music store, too. There was one in GuitarCenter, Sam Ash, and my local store last time I checked.

It's all good. Good luck with your amp search. I bought the Hot Rod Deluxe because it's a great, simple tube amp at a reasonable price. Definitely check it out.

Not sure about the first question, I've never really needed one for my Blues Deluxe.
As for the second, however, if it has a speaker out, you can drive a cab, or you should be able to. Personally, though, I'd probably just drive a 1 12" or 2 12" cab, seeing as how portability is really one of the main appeals of a smaller tube amp. Also, that "look" would really seem better, at least to me. I highly doubt you'd need the volume that the 2 extra speakers (in a 4 12" cab) would supply, assuming there are decent speakers in the cab and the combo.
Yeah, hope that helps a bit- seems like it's more of me describing what my personal taste/opinion would be at times, but oh well.

Thanks a lot! I was just wondering about that in case I was ever in a situation where I would need a cabinet. But when I think about it, it'd make more sense to just mic it and send it to a P.A. or something O_o
Blues Deluxe, eh? Is it much different from the HRD? I looked at the specs, but music store specs are always a tad on the general side. Does it only come in tweed? Cause it looks secks O_O

Extra speakers won't add any volume. You may lose less volume with a more efficient speaker, but all the cabs in the world can't make an amp any louder than it is. More speakers will just make the sound fill the room/stage better, appearing louder by reducing the directional volume issues many 1x12's suffer from.

You can drive speakers with the HRD... I'm not sure about how many etc etc

The only major difference is the circuitry. I actually have a Hot Rod with a Celestion in it and my Blues Deluxe up in my practice room side by side right now. Comparing them, the Blues Deluxe seems to overdrive a little bit sooner on the clean channel than the Hot Rod, but that could have a little bit to do with the different tubes/speakers in the respective amps. The Hot Rod seems to get a bit louder on the overdrive channel, but I think that has to do with the speaker (they're both 40 watts). The Blues Deluxe is considerably more bass-y (it's marketed as a sort of a "customized Bassman"), but as different as I'm making them sound, in reality they're very similar amps.

Yeah, that's was I was intending to say, sort of. I suppose I could have phrased it better by saying "...the volume that the 2 extra speakers might be percieved as supplying. Ah, whatever.
