no its true i was young and foolish enough to but z customs. but i play them pretty close even when open and keep the clutch nice and tight so they dont sound too gash. plus live they cut through really ****in well and on recordins we just eq more high end frequencies onto them to make sound less dull
but dont buy a pair, not that great
nice, but i think this should've gone in the let's see those kits thread.
nah thats not an official thread anyway. as long as its in gear and media its fine.
and by the way...nice set man. not really liking the Z hats but everything else is great.

yeah, i know, I just went to GC today. They had a kit set up with a z custom crash, ride, and hats. I was pretty curious, so i played a little.
Let's just say it didn't go as well as i thought it would. I liked the pork pie snare they had up though!

No, it shouldn't have. The idea of this section is so people can make threads of their own media.

They look like old Z Customs/ Believe me, theres nothing wrong with old Z Customs, they are actually quite nice. New ones however are horrific.

You don't wanna be yelled at? Stay on topic, and don't spam. Simple.

Ah yeah. The old Z customs were nice. My dad has a few of the classics and they kick the **** out of the new ones. Not to mention Rogers cymbals sounded nice on the magic tour.

VERY nice setup mate!
I'm a fan of Z hats. that being said, i'd never use a pair as my main hats. I've got 13" ORIGINAL 80s Dyno's up as AUX hats.
To Aaron, I'm pretty sure 3000 was the old RUDE lable.
Drum Phil
01-22-2006, 05:52 AM
Yes 3000 and 2002 rude were both previous names for Paiste rudes.

have a drum locker in the rehersal room which i haul the kit out of every practice. the acoustics are piss poor in there though cos there is not acoustic dampening just wooden and plaster walls

Does that ride say 3000?
yeah its a paiste rude 3000 that i bought second hand like nearly all my cymbals. its the ride that dave silvera from korn used to on the openin to the track 'blind'. its from a cymbal from the late eighties but still sounds mint today!

kinda like a less trashy portnoy max stax. sounds amazin when used on snare accents like a china would, but even better when played as the upbeats whilst playing down beats on the ride/crash or any rhythm between kick and snare like a paradiddle for instance and playing the noiseworks on every kick note
just gives a really punchy sound that also works well in dance beats

i only got the concert toms like 3 weeks ago amazin deal tho £130 or $240 for both mapex pro M toms and stand should have been more like £250.
i much prefer the sound of the smaller toms now, tonnes of attack but still enough sustain and when played between kick double kick in fills the higher pitch of the drum sounds to complement the lower puntch of the kick than a larger tom would
