Just adding onto your question:
What about a pedal like this, i don't know what it's called and i don't know how it works.

What's it called, how does it work, and why would people like it better than normal pedals?

A single chain is the same as a double chain, just a little less stable.
A strap has more of a floaty feeling.
I wouldn't buy a strap unless you try it first, because many people dislike the feeling. I love it, though.
Don't buy a pedal without trying it.

I have a DW5000 double pedal with a chain.. and an Iron Cobra Hi-Hat stand with a strap... so I guess I may not be the best person to ask...
but I will tell you to try a pedal before you buy it like Pespi said..

unless you cant adjust to the feel of the pedal, in which youll suck hard, there shouldnt be any sound change.
most sites like tama/yamaha etc all have explainations of the cams, chains, footboards, etc on there pedals page.

so if i want speed i should probably go with the accelerator over the strap right?

I read about this pedal in a magazine I have, it seems very interesting...
If you are looking to buy a pedal the #1 thing you can do is test them all out to find your preference in pedals... :thumb:

The accelerator will "accelerate" the beater as you press down on the pedal, thus making the pedal quicker... There are many people who do not like the feel of such pedals therefore I suggest trying some out...
The Iron Cobra Power Glide also accelerates as it hits the bass drum. I own one and it is amazing :chug:

No.
I can't tell the difference between the accelerator or the normal chain.
You have to choose what you're comfortable with.
If you hate the feel, you wont play it fast.

try a pedal before you buy it...if ure spending money for a dw 5000 or whatever u should try them out instead of listing to everyone elses opinion...but if youre scared to make ure own decision get a chain :)

well i i just wanna know what ill benifit from the most. my music scene around here is kinda dead, there are shops with a lot of guitar stuff, but theres no one around here with good drum stuff. except this one place but there real exspensive. unluckily theres this small shop with all drum stuff and there shutting down. good news is that they'r selling all there stuff at 50% off, including all DW hardware :naughty:

I have been playing with a strap most of the time. I occassionally get into a situation where I use a chain, and it is definitely different. I seem to have to adjust between the two slightly, but they both work fine in their own ways.
It's mostly personal preference over functionality if you ask me. Go with trying each out and pick the one that feels best to you.

I'd go with Chain. But you have to try them

braided tassels. :naughty:
i play strap and it feels to me just right, its less.. i dont know, i guess i find the feel smoother as i'm not aiming for blast-beat style speeds, i find it a comfort. i dont know what is faster or more efficient for speed..

yeah.. i read a review on it.. they say they made it as simpel as possible, so it wouldn't rattle.. They have a point..
they also made it without a chain and string.. at the begin of the footboard it's just way thinner.. in that way you can't adjust the position of the footboard.. but hey.. it plays like a dream :D:D

You might say the B.O.A. is flexible in more ways than one. In addition to its groundbreaking flexible footboard, the B.O.A. is fully adjustable. Using a combination of settings at the cam (A) and Bow Action retaining plate, the B.O.A. can be tweaked in almost limitless ways. Whether you desire longer throw, additional torque or varied rebound, all can be easily accomplished using a standard drum key or hex wrench. Even B.O.A.’s toe clamp mechanism can be slid back and forth to compensate for varying bass drum hoop depths.
sorry :)
