A lot of you know, I play a Schecter Stiletto Elite 5 with passive EMG Hz pickups. Now, I was interested in changing them, so I contacted EMG:
Hey guys. I play a Schecter Stiletto Elite 5 with EMG Hz and currently want an upgrade.
I was wondering what pickups EMG offers that are active and slip right into the original size cavities where the Hz pickups are. Are there any? I don't think I'd need to route another cavity for an added battery if I already have an onboard preamp, do I? I'd like to hope the active EMG pickup would run off the same battery as the preamp. This would reduce battery life, I assume?
I sort of want a neck pickup with a lot of thump and lowend like a Precision-style pickup and a bridge pickup with lots of midrange and growl like a Jazz-style pickup for the bridge position. If so, it seems like the 35P and 45J are the way to go, but I could be wrong on this. If you could suggest something, that would be much appreciated, but not necessary, since that's not really your job. =P
Last I read on MusicianForums.com (a site I mod with awesome people, check it out), someone said the QuickConnect in the Hz's only works with other Hz's. Is this true? If so, would I need to install a whole new preamp to upgrade to a pickup of any other company?
Thanks a lot!

No guys here; just me.
1) If the HZ's are 4.0 inches wide, then go with the 40 Extended series soapbars; 40P5 neck/40J bridge.
2) If you have an existing active EQ, then you can run everything off of a single battery. And yes, it will run the battery down quicker.
3) Yes, HZ cables can only be used with other HZ's. You'll just have to replace the pup cable, not the whole EQ.
Cool site by the way!

Where can I find a replacement PUP cable? So I need to solder it to the EMG pre-amp in the same way the current PUP cable is soldered?
Thanks for your response. =D

2 questions:
1) Active or passive cable?
2) Mailing address?
1-Active electronics with passive pickups, so I assume active (let me know if I'm wrong).
2- My address is *************************.
Please don't send me a bomb or something. =D
-Gav
I'm assuming passive, so I'll send a couple of each cable type, just in case.
If the envelope is ticking, soak it in water!
Rock on,
Rick
Wow, thanks a lot, man! I'll order those pickups as soon as I get the cash, then!
Thanks again!
