She stumbles down the hallway
And wears a smile today
No shoes to warm her feet
Last night they locked them away

Stands four feet from the window
Asks for a cigeratte
Its ten minutes to early
They won't give her one yet

Marylou is Manic
Most times she cries at night
Marylou is manic
Seems everyday is a fight
If she could see herself inside
She'd see a woman so alive
Each time they pry she panics
Sweet Marylou is manic

She stands in line in front of me
Wait for the nurse to unlock the door
Step onto the ten by ten mesh metal cage
Have a smoke on the ice cold concrete floor

She always follows the schedule
The staff says shes ready to go
Theres no one there to pick her up
Still her eyes are aglow.

Marylou is Manic
Most times she cries at night
Marylou is manic
Seems everyday is a fight
If she could see herself inside
She'd see a woman so alive
Each time they pry she panics
Sweet Marylou is manic

Mary lou missed her appointment
Just dissapeared with no trace
She was last seen by the ship docks
With a smile on her face

God loves all his children. Whos to say who is right?
My few days with Marylou.Somehow shown me the light.

Marylou is Manic
Most times she cries at night
Marylou is manic
Seems everyday is a fight
If she could see herself inside
She'd see a woman so alive
Each time they pry she panics
Sweet Marylou is manic

Poems belong in book stores. Lyrics belong in songs

Poems belong in book stores. Lyrics belong in songs^ Lyrics are poems...just ones that were put to music. As for your song, it was...rather boring, I've heard insane asylum stuff before, this was just trite and uninteresting.

first off there is no place a poem in a song. They are beautiful works off art but are compltely different than a song lyric. As for the song Thanks for the input. But it had nothing to do with an insane asylum. appreaceat your feedback.

doesnt flow all that well, and poems and song lyrics aren't completely different at all, they are definately the same thing. take literature classes and you will know. most songs (such as this one) are written in lines, and have rhymes. therefore, according to you it would be a POEM. this makes you a hypocrite, because you posted it in SONGWRITING & LYRICS. nowhere in the name of the forum is there "poetry."

as for songs that don't rhyme, they're written in what is called "free verse" meaning it flows well, while rhyming is unnecessary.
