Alright, so i got a new K custom 10" splash but I didn't have a stand for it for our rehearsel today. So i decided to stack it, inverted, on top of my 19" AAXplosion crash. It added a bit more texture and it sounded a bit trashier obviously. However, throughout songs i decided to add accents by hitting the inverted splash... It sounds perfect but is this safe for my cymbal? Should I get a new boom arm and attach it to a different stand by itself or what?

I don't think that would be safe.

New boom arm or a proper cymbal stacker.

i dunno for sure but it seems if you just put a felt or something in between them nothing bad would happen....but i'm not sure

I stack my 8" AA slash ontop of my 20" HH Medium ride. It's perfectly safe. The stacking and felts go like this:
Large Felt->Ride->Thin Felt->Thin Felt->Splash->Regular Felt
As you can see, I have several layers of felt between everything. This way you are completely safe. DO NOT HAVE METAL ON METAL CONTACT!!! And do not overtighten your wingnuts (at all, but especially with a splash on board.)

i was gonna say its fine but after reading again i think u meant metal on metal.. i would say its not a great idea. safer to get another felt+sleeve

its not safe, if you can, get a stacker, youll chew up your sticks and your cymbal by hitting the top end, its the same as hitting an un-inverted china.

I dont stack my splashs, im scared of cracking them around the edge, as it seems like it would be easier to do. I stack my cup chime though,

Alot of people do it, including pros. I did it with my b8 nothing happened but I would rather keep my instanbul safe by having its own stand, better be safe then sorry especially when dealing with pro cymbals.

I have an 8" zxt flash splash that I had mounted upside down for quite a while. The edges are dented but it hasnt cracked. I now have it on a grabber arm. Here are a couple of pics but you may not be able to see the edges well.

stacking is fine, as long as the thickness of felt is greater than the distance that the give will move the splash [then it'll never wobble enough to hit your ride/crash]
