Making Speaker Cables

I just bought a PA system, but I need speaker cords. I spoke with a guy at the music store and he said that I could make my own cords with 1/4 phone jacks and speaker wire, but he didn't tell me how. Does anyone know the procedures? Do I need a solder?

You'll need to know how to solder.
Plus have the necessary tools, an Iron, some solder, pair of wire cutters, etc.

It's not hard to do at all. But you may want to practise a bit before soldering up cables to plugs.
