Speed?

My friend keeps bragging to me about being able to play this little scale lick I wrote at 20 notes a second. I believe this is almost impossible, because its pretty hard. I asked him how accurate he was and he said almost perfect. Hes been playing for about a year, does this seem right?
Also hes always bragging that his friends better than EVH, Vai, and Satrani. Anyone ever had people like that who wont shut up?

Edit: That lick is like, a G minor pentatonic mixed with some notes from an E minor and just some random stuff that stays from the 12th fret to the 16th on all strings

Its not really anything. If you can play a minor pentatonic then you can play it. He must be lieing because I wrote it as 8th notes at 170 bpm. It got so old that I quit playing it. Id have to look for the tab for it.

I mean it would be hard to play at 20 notes a second (in the first post).

Yeah he does. He says my guitars a piece of ****. (Its not GREAT but its not a piece of ****). He says hes got the best guitar at our school. (Its a Carvin custom). I HATE the neck on it, oh and then I tell him its not even his (because its his dads REALLY) and he says, well its better than yours.

OT: Your friend sounds like my friend... he's both a drummer and a guitarist and perfectly crap at both. His drumming is just... eugh, and while he can pick quite fast on his guitar, he can't play it. He claims he is the best guitarist in his school (which I very seriously doubt) as well as the best drummer (which I also very seriously doubt).
He says he is the best shredder he knows, but I've seen him shred. Or rather, attempt to shred. He's just playing random notes at a high speed. And it sounds terrible.

He also thinks he has played on Terry Bozzio's drum kit at a drumming convention.

Track down the infamous Fred shred video, tell your friend that this is for his own good, and then shw him the video telling him how much it reminds you of his playing.

well playing at 150BPM in something notes (the one everyone talks in, 8ths?) is 10 notes a second, and thats not partiularly hard to play at, although i am not too good at fast playing.

But i dont think people can play at 300BPM in 8ths(?) (or 1200 like leukeh said) (20 notes a second), i thought 220 is around the top speed most people can do (correct me if i am wrong) and thats around 14 notes per second...

I believe Eggo once said that Al Di can pick at 20nps, which is 300bpm 16th notes.

Your friend can probably play ten notes a second, which is 150bpm, or perhaps he is playing quater notes and thinks they are 16th notes, meaning he is playing at 5nps.

Oh btw, 20nps is probably the fastest alterante picking in the world, Al is mind boggolingly amazing.
