thats a sweet fade...i like how you tried to hide that it was a CD by putting a port on the reso where the logo is...
It looks like your missing a tension rod on the reso side of your medium tom...

sexy job. I'd be afraid to do something like that to a kit, for fear of messing it up.:thumb:

lol thanks for all the comments guys.
about the missing tension rods, im not planning on using the meduim tom....i like the 4 piece setup better. i only put it in the pic to show all the drums. i had to take some rods off of it cause i lost some on my small tom.
thanks for the comments guys!

01-21-2006, 03:41 PM
how do i clearcoat it
-TheGlassPrison-
01-21-2006, 03:45 PM
you spray clearcoating onto it.
I dont know if you can buy it.. if not a painter could do it.
It makes the finish glossier and 10x better... and also protects the paint.
wow those look great. those would look so bad *** with coated or smooth white heads on them.

01-21-2006, 04:10 PM
^ Coated Ambs would like cool on it, blue and white go really well together. Black hardware would also have been cool.
Der Meister
01-21-2006, 04:13 PM
If you laquered it, it would be orgasmic
wipe_my_button
01-21-2006, 04:39 PM
ive ordered smooth white emps over smooth white ambs for the toms, cs dot head and hazy 300 for the snare, and powerstroke 3 for bass batter, and black powerstroke 3 for reso....so that will look sweeeet.
i did laquer them, i put like 3 coats and all of them...and like 5 coats on the bass drum. ill head over to lowes sometime and see if they have clearcoating.

Also save up for new hardware, pedal... could be considered hardware and a new snare.

question....everyone keeps telling me to flatten out my toms.
if i do that, they will either hit my bass drum or i wont be able to hit it....any reason?

Nice fade job.. really rough on the finish though. Couple of clear coats + sanding should fix that.

Awesome refinishing job man, how much did it cost you and how long did it take? I'm planning on doing the same thing but have been putting it off forever. Awesome snare stand man!

Brokensticks: it cost about $40 at most for me. I used about 8 cans of spraypaint (3 black, 2 dark blue, 1 light blue, and 2 laquer cans), paint thinner, tape, and sandpaper. i never worked on it for long periods at a time, cause the paint had to dry a lot. i would say it took me maybe 2 weeks.
im really happy with the end. i ordered new cymbals and stuff so ill get updated pics soon.

i really hope you guys think it looks cool. im getting new hardware and heads very very soon. what you guys think?
That is truly awesome. You got skillz man. :thumb:
In other news, am I the only one who hates the way steel snares look? They look like compressed food cans, they even have the indents round the middle like cans do. Urgh.

in the pictures ur toms arent too flat at all, its just bad when they are really angled.
