For a dream kit i'll have two kits...maybe three...

http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b379/enemytopublic/dreamkit.jpg

That will be a Mapex Orion with K Constantinople Cymbals

http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b379/enemytopublic/actualkit.jpg

This will be a Starclassic with various cymbals. ( i know the cymbals arent shown...but trust me...they're there...

The drums for this kit should be completed in the next 2 years. (Working hard and not spending a penny :D) I'll gradually build up the cymbals once the kit is in place and from presents in the mean time.

Built by myself;
All birch unless notified.

14x6.5 Snare (maple)
10x10 Mounted tom
12x12 Mounted tom
14x14 Mounted tom
16x16 Floor tom
22x20 Bass
12x5.5 Aux Snare

Pearl Icon rack
Pearl Eliminator single pedal
Mapex Janus Ergo hi-hat pedal

a 14" Zildjian A Custom Mastersound
b 16" Sabian AA medium-thin Crash
c 18" Sabian HHX Manhattan Crash
d 16" Sabian HH Sound Control Crash
e 20" Sabian HH Raw Dry Ride
f 18" Sabian HHX Chinese
g 22" Sabian HH Chinese
h 10" Sabian HHX Evolution Splash
i 12" Sabian HHX Evolution Splash

Still not totally decided on all the cymbals yet, but these are the sort of sizes I'm after. I'l probably spread out over a few more brands as well, but I've only really played Sabian (I've played all the cymbals on my list)

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v681/crazydrummertim/dreamkit.jpg

Not sure of the finish for the main kit yet, but the 14x6.5 Snare is going to be natural with black powdercoated tube lugs and rims. I'm thinking maybe red sparkle with chrome hardware for the rest of the kit. I might put a silver sparkle stripe around as well with the red sparkle. But it's still in the planning stages, just letting the money gradually filter in!

Dont have a pic, but this would be my specs

12x8 rack
16x14 floor

19" AAX stage crash
20" AAX stage ride
18" AA china

Sonor 600 series hardware
Double IC Powerglide
Evans G2 over G1 all around, except Emad2 on the bass

Bigger, rock/metal set-up
Tama Starclassic Performer Birch/Bubinga

Okay, a 7 tom single bass mapex orion with I guess a black panther or something that level, I like maple snares more but I don't really know the differences. Now for what I do know and take pride in knowning... Cymbals!
I would have 3 hats, 2 primary, one with the attachment wire, one splashy closed and one conventional placement. Lots of crashes 2 slower attacking and the oriental crash of doom, I'd say about 6 others ranging from K customs to vaults to A customs to sigs to bosphorus and instanbul(didn't check out their crashes yet) The slow ones would be the turk crash(big) and a 17'' K crash(maybe dry if its made). I'd have 3 or 4 chinas, a 19'' rude behind me for killer effects a 22'' trad instanbul the HHX that Dom famularo uses the china I use now, and some other smaller ones including a HHX kang with a A custom splash on it. Splashes I would use would be many including the bosphorus line which I can't remember but rock, the one that I use now(trad instanbul) HHX's, K's, K customs and A's. I'd also have some to make hats with. I'd use alchemy bells, zil bells and ice bells, then I'd have some rides, the HH dry raw bell ride, K custom 20'' dry ride, and traditional instanbul(green label). I'd also have a gong

Of course this would be far too much to play. For a jazz setup(realistly) I'd have this setup. Gretsh pro setup(not too familiar) with matching maple snare. Cymbals would be 14'' groove hats and 16'' turk crash over K constitouple crash. Both for foot use the 16'' would only be for foot and would be a little further away from the kit just for ballads where a slower fatter sound would fit. Cymbals would include a K constotouple 22'' med thin ride, 24'' green label instanbul flat and 22'' artistant and manhatten ride.
I'd also have a 6'' splash stacked over a 22'' china both bosphorus can't remember lines.

Thanks, and yeah, the 3 hihats are there because one would be regular, one would be permanantly half open, and the other would be remote, so different sound options, especially when playing double bass. octobans yeah, I'd like to have them, dunno if I'd have space for them though.

There's what I'd want.

Maple, black hardware, a finish similar to tobacco burst, but in blue

22x18 bass drums [no tom mounts]
14x7 edge snare
10x8 rack tom
12x9 rack tom
14x11 rack tom
16x13 rack tom

Cymbals:
8" bell
10" splash
12" splash
13" hats
16" china
17" crash
18" crash
22" china
22" ride

I tried fitting piccolo toms in somewhere, but I couldn't place them where I liked them. The second pedal next to the left drum is supposed to be a remote hi-hat pedal, the hats just to the left of it. I hated how the hats aren't transparent.

I second that. Sure, he's a spoiled little (lucky) S.O.B., and he deserves a little beating. But not that much of a beating. Oh wait, I just remembered. He trashed items that a bunch of people worked oh so hard to make. Now that's where I draw the line with him. Before I saw how he trashed his ****, I thought he didn't need any sort of flaming. Ok, this is mine..

http://www.nottoofast.com/driimset.jpg

Drums are the top-line by any company making good drums, as long as they come in White Marine finish. Not Yamaha thou, I don't trust in a company that sells both motorcycles and musical instruments.. Let's say they're the Premier series by Premier.

Cymbals would be Meinl Byzance. A ping ride, a thin ride, a big thin crash, a small splash and two chinas, 16" and 20" for example. And a Zildjian K hihat.

On the left of the single rack tom there's an optional shallow piccolo tom, it's above the hihats kinda like Neil Peart has his smaller toms, but I'm fine with just one.

And a throne. A round one.

Of course, a vast supply of different snares to choose from. From shallow to deep and from bell brass to maple.

ValeOfShadows
01-22-2006, 06:13 AM
^^No actual crash? I personally like crashes more than other cymbals.

Joonas P
01-22-2006, 06:30 AM
The big thin crash and thin ride will serve as crashes. I love BIG and thin crashes, I'm using a Byzance 18" thin crash now and I'd want an even bigger one.

edit: Cool, 1900 posts.

And one of my favorite drummers, JP Gastor of Clutch uses a cymbal setup consisting of 15" hats, 22" heavy ride, 20" medium ride and 20" thin ride according to Meinl's artist profile. They happen to be Byzance as well :D

Then out of time the pretty funny accually.

It's not that hard you know?

It only takes a lot of luck to walk into the music store at 10 in the morning to order a 1250€ 4-piece pearl (export, back then they were really pricey!), only to see that there's a much better second hand kit just waiting there for you for only 750€. The kit got setup in the shop 1h before I got there :D
There even was a bet among the salesmen that the kit would be sold before lunch.

As for the cymbals, that's nothing special either. That just takes a 4-day trip to Istanbul, Turkey and a little visit to the factory :D Ran me 1400€ for everything (airplane, hotel, food, cymbals, gifts for friends and family), and that includes airplane/hotel/food expenses of my girlfriend.

Well I was never good at making a dream kit or anything like that. But here's a rough idea of what im building up to now...

Drums - Maybe Tama Starclassic? 11,13,15,17,22... not sure on depths. A cool stain finish with a nice gloss over it.
Snare - Hmm, thinking a nice acrylic custom, Spaun maybe. SO LOUD!

Crashes - 16", 18" HHX Evolutions. (got it!)
China - 14" HHX Evolution Mini-Chinese (got it!)
Ride - 20" Ufip Rough Ride (got it!)
HiHat - Not sure yet, I really like those Paiste ones with the Riged bottoms.

Other - I like the Iron Cobra pedals I'm using, but I guess if I had litmitless money I would go with Axis ones. Maybe not. Not sure about hihat stand. I would just stick with the Pacific and Gibralter boom stands I have right now, they work fine for me.

okay several points:

Its one post. Just one post. One post is no clear indication of a person's personality; it is their mood at the current time. Over time you see who that person really is.

Our society (maybe just humanity in general) never look for the good, they always wait for one bad thing to happen, jump on the oppurtunity, and tear down the person. 100 good things can mean nothing with just one bad thing. Example: Bill Clinton. Great president, great guy.....but did one mistake (well, two, if you count him lying to the Grand Jury). People think he's horrible for that? Did he do a bad thing? Well sure, but I still respect him alot, and still think he was a great president.

People really need to look at things in a better light.

Point two: Its the internet. No one really cares anyway. People take things on here way too seriously. I admit I do from time to time, especially in the thread where I posted my different solos, then someone came along and said I had no creativity. Okay, sure the solos weren't perfect, maybe I don't have great chops, timing, whatever, but to say i have no creativity is an entirely different story. Anyway, still, despite a few occurances otherwise, I rarely take anything seriously. This ain't the real life.

Point 2.5: I'm more of an asshole on the internet then I am in real life. Do I want to be an asshole? No. But I can get away with being one here. Why? Because I can, and because bluntness sometimes is the only thing that gets things into people's heads.

I'm sure you'd think I'm all cool and laid back if you met me in real life (I swear I'm repeating sometime Josiah said!)

Point 3: I have no basement.

so if i offered help to a homeless shelter on my weekend and then mass murdered the homeless shelter would i look good through your eyes?

Our society (maybe just humanity in general) never look for the good, they always wait for one bad thing to happen, jump on the oppurtunity, and tear down the person. 100 good things can mean nothing with just one bad thing. we always look at the good, but we expect the good from people, it is expected as a standard that every person is socially acceptable and a good person, its that "one bad thing" you do, that is unacceptable, so when someone does something bad, it is immediately frowned upon.i think maybe you just need a small reality check.

Point two: Its the internet. No one really cares anyway. People take things on here way too seriously. dont post if you want people to sugarcoat whatever they say to you, were not three, we dont **** our pants for everything that pops up here. also, since when isnt this the real life?your talking to real people, and they should be treated with the same respect you would treat them with offline.

Point 2.5: I'm more of an spatula on the internet then I am in real life. Do I want to be an spatula? No. But I can get away with being one here. Why? Because I can, and because bluntness sometimes is the only thing that gets things into people's heads.

look at what you said in your first paragraph, i believe you just contradicted yourself in a way. if your an asshole, you dont pop in and out of your fits. you usually keep relatively the same attitude for everything, that counts as more than one bad thing personally to me, and i believe that is why i would i would be prejudice towards you. also, with that last sentence, do you agree with hitler in some way?you come across as someone who would have a swastika in there room hanging off everywall and door.

I'm sure you'd think I'm all cool and laid back if you met me in real life (I swear I'm repeating sometime Josiah said!)

im sure if i met you in real life, i would walk away from you after hearing 2 sentences, also as to what you said in the other thread, i couldnt care less if it was you, josiah, jim, or MX (jeremy i believe his name is), if i had a problem with something he said, i would tell him.

Point 3: I have no basement.

comparing people to Hitler and Homicidal Maniacs sure is a fine way these days ;)

Counterpoint 1: Acting like an *** once (in a situation where, dear me, I was actually right) is not killing people in any way. Stop pulling philosophy on my *** and comparing me to that. Its simple minded and childish.

And I think you need a reality check. One bad thing should never destroy a person. Ever (unless it involved violence and butchering homeless shelters).

Counter point 2: About me acting 3.....I wasn't acting 3....in fact, if you looked at my post, I asked the guy why he thought I had no creativity. He just said "you have no creativity, your chops suck, and no musicality" well thats fine and dandy, but he could have explained it instead of stating it and then running away....a bit like 3, ain't it?

And also he hardly hurt my feelings, he was a n00b.....much better players whom I have more respect for said my solos were at least 'okay' and stated things I should work on......which is the point of my post. Not to get criticized and then not being able to back it up.

Btw what do you think of Josiah? Just curious.

Counterpoint 2.5: okay, earlier you said you had lots of respect for me until I made one blunt (but yet still true) post. Then here you said that I acted like an asshole all the time....which to me completely invalidates everything else you said in your point. Also what did anything I do have to do with Hitler?

Yes I have Swatchikas all over my room wall  As well as a World Peace sticker, a Beatles poster, two John Lennon posters, a "Biggest Tree Hugger" award sash, and okay you get my drift.

And why do you assume you would hate me in real life? This ain't my real life persona.

Counterpoint 3: That was only to mock you.

i dont see how it is simple minded or childish, and i believe it is the same situation, just in a different persona.

And I think you need a reality check. One bad thing should never destroy a person. Ever (unless it involved violence and butchering homeless shelters).

i dont remember saying it would destroy a person, if it did i said it wrong, but it would make me lose all respect and most likely stop being around that person.

Counter point 2: About me acting 3.....I wasn't acting 3....in fact, if you looked at my post, I asked the guy why he thought I had no creativity. you didnt tell me that, and it would of been a waste of time for me to look it up over a small argument like this, my apologies, but if you accepted the other peoples criticism's ive got no problems with that then.

Btw what do you think of Josiah? Just curious.

id get banned if i told ya. i dont think highly of him at all, ill say that much.

i wouldnt say i had lots of respect, but i'd never noticed anything bad about you before that post, you also said that you yourself acted as an asshole on here just because you could get away with it. thats what being an asshole is for the most part.
i have to re-read your post to validate my hitler point, ill edit in a second.

your the same person online as you are offline, give or take the fact that you can re-read and edit what you say online. anything you would say offline you would say hear, except with editing to reconsider what you say, i just dont believe we would get along with me judging by how you act hear.

Counterpoint 3: That was only to mock you.

bah, i hate having to add stuff here, bleh.

edit: the hitler thing, and the asshole thing.

i still don't get the hitler point

i still don't get why you are tying me to a homicidal maniac

i still don't get why you have dillusions that people on the internet act like they do in real life.

In fact, I'll tell you how I am in real life, you can take it or leave it, but it is the truth.

I am extremely shy. Not much a social person, don't really care for parties, getting drunk, or hanging with insane large groups of people. I like being with small groups, duos, trios, etc.

I am very nice. I cannot physically force myself to be mean to somebody excpet in a jokingly matter. My subconsciounce literraly prevents me from doing that. Why can I act otherwise on the net? Easy....even though you are people too, I see you as an internet persona...I see you as Quagmire for god's sake! I seperate internet from reality....internet is all fun and games for me.

And I can go on and on how I am different in the real world, but it probably won't matter because you won't believe me, unless you can get off your high horse and accept the fact that people on the internet don't act like themselves (a fact I discovered when you were probably in grade school)

styler
02-09-2006, 02:00 AM
if you re-read it a couple of times you should get my point, or someone who understood my bad grammar might rephrase it.

they act the same because they are the same, its not two seperate people talking, its the one person. and if your more outgoing here its because you most likely liveout what you do here instead of outside and such, im not much for a big group of people walking around drunk and beating people up either. and i am different here, but i stand by the same morals here that i do in real life, im not a different person and i dont act differently, i may talk differently, but i am the same person.

well sure I have the same morales here as I do in real life, but I don't think your talking about morales, you're talking about etiquette.

I don't live my life here per se, I'm at least somewhat happy where I am in the 'real world.'

go 8,10,12,14 rack and you'l be set man... while you get a bigger sound with 10,12,13,14 racks, the 12,13,14 sound too similar to each other to get a good sound.

yeah, I don't care about making my point right, I'm just wondering why someone would blow up in my face and call me an asshole for saying just one thing (which was the right thing to say) somewhat meanly.
