I have been playing bass for about a year(and guitar for another one before that) and own a quite crappy, fake-squier,
(a fake version of a fake fender! )
and a super crappy Dinosaur practice amp(which has a built in automatic, feedback distortion!) and after thinking about it, I realized that I NEED the new amp, since I can't do anything with a practice amp anyway, so can you recommend me an amp that is less than $200, and has enough power to play in a teenage band setting.

If your going to be in a band you wil lwant something that will last you a while and is relitivly (sp?) loud and has a good eq. ect. I would suggest you buy something about 100 watts, my bass player hs a hartake (sp?) and that does realy well. Best thing too do is go in to your local music store and have a chat too them and try a few out

You're not going to get a very high quality one. I payed $250US for a Peavy MAX112, and that is only 35 watts.

Well alot of people will recommend a fender rumble 100 due to price and reliability.

I got rid of the Behringer for my current, sexy Ashdown. I got the MAG C210t-300.... it pisses all over the Behringer in terms of tone and volume in my opinion. The behringer had a totally sterile tone, whereas the Ashdown has a tone that you can really feel once you turn it up with a band.

well it should sound better due to the fact it over twice the price of the behringer.........and isn't it 300 watts? so surely you expect it to be louder?
edit: unless you didn't have the bx1200 like me, in which case my argument is pointless
