Please, read this, this is serious ****!

Once upon a time (actually, it was 2 years ago), I was a 28 years old, boring and bored person, with a mediocre job, a mediocre girlfriend, a mediocre life. I was doing OK, but just OK. Now, I'm a 30 years old wanna-be-drummer and my life has changed forever! At least that's how it is right now! And that's because of 3 things:

1. Because I decided to start doing something with my life on my own steam, learning drums from scratch, for a year on my own (books, CDs, DVDs), until now with a teacher.
2. Because of my best friends, who they started learning the guitar at the same time as me and we are practising together ever since.
3. Because of MXTabs.

I'm not going to tell you what MXTabs stands for. We all know. We know it provided us (specially drummers, there isn't any other decent site to go for drummers),material to practise on, play on gigs, expand our musical listening, understand musical theory and even compete with each other. This material is a very valuable collection of listening music, learning music, playing music and above all, have fun with music! We can't let this material go into oblivion!

To the admin of MXTabs: I propose to zip or rar the vast collection of MXTAbs (database) and offer it to the whole musical community to download, preferably from a non-US ISP Server (so that you wouldn't have problems with the US authority). I live in Greece and we don't have these kind of bull**** here! The only thing about music that we are not allowed to share freely through Internet are Lyrics. Go figure! I'm not suggesting to create a new site or copy the old one, for that would be expensive (I think so, but I'm not sure for this one...). I'm just saying that you can EASILY put a 100Mb compressed file somewhere that's out of THEIR juristiction for all of us until you can open the site once again. Simple!

To all: I think that most of you will find this like a gift from the Gods of Music! I know I will! So, we can make it work, we just have to bend a few rules, that's all! And tell everyone to Vote for the MXTabs!

I'm waiting for a reply from the MXTabs Admin about my proposal and I thank you for your time. :thumb:

You want the admin to take part in illegal activities?

You sir are lucky he doesn't report you to the FBI and your ISP.

Ok.
Well if MX does that, it means you have no problem with me coming to your house and taking your snare drum.
That's pretty much what you're proposing. It is theft of property. Before you think of posting ANYTHING back to me. Go to the politics and world issues forum and search for the tab thread there. Chances are I owned you already ok?

Wow. Now, that's a surprise... Can I, at least, defend myself?

I don't see how's that is nearly similar to what I propose. I didn't say that we will take the tabs from you, I asked you if you could share them with everyone else, like mysongbook.com did when it gave 40,000 tabs away.

I'm a bit confused. Theft? What theft? These are our tabs! Two months ago, they were public for all people, all over the world! They are not a one man's work, they are the work of thousands of people (including me, by the way) that decided to SHARE their expertise in music with others. As far as I am conserned, I don't mind offering my tabs for downloading, I've already done that by submitting them to MXTabs! Of course, since I freely submitted my tabs to your site, you have every right to do whatever you like. But theft??? Give me a break!

I didn't get the last part about owning me but I will follow your advice and search these forums that you mentioned. Maybe I got it all wrong, maybe I don't know all the facts, what I know is that we all are on the same side, I think...:thumb:

It is theft. Go find the thread in politics and when you've read to the end of it, you'll see. The reason I referred you to that and mentioned 'owned you already' was because I've jumped into a whole heap of these threads where people are ignoring the basic legallity of tabs.
What you're saying is that if I pick up a book from my bookshelf, type it up onto microsoft word, then the microsoft word copy is mine to give away.
It's not, even if I make hundreds of typos and it's not accurate, it is still theft. That's a very very brief description of what I mean but if you read the politics forum thread then that explains it in alot more detail.
Also, from the way you've worded your post, I think you've mistaken me for the admin.
