FOR SALE: Peavey EVH 5150 120 watt head

for sale is a peavey 120 watt 5150 eddie van halen signature amp head.

This amp is the original Block logo head. They don't make these babies anymore.

Amp just had power tubes replaced about 2 months ago, but amp has only been played approx 4 times since being re-tubed.

Amp has some blemishes, but nothing major. Everything works prefectly on it. and is all original. i am a very picky person when it comes to blemishes, and what is present on the head doesn't bother me.

I am located in canada and will ship in canada and to the US.



Asking price is $700 CAD NEG.

I was wondering if you could tell me how your new addition , the triple rectifier solo head is. I'm thinking about possibly buying one in the next few months. Do you have any soundclips? How is the distortion and clean? good for blues, metal, and clean stuff???

About the triple, best fukking amp ive ever used. Im not new to the mesa game, so Eq'n it is no problem at all.

What i was AMAZED with, beside the break neck, awesome gain, is the amazing cleans, and the overdriven sound of that channel.

i plan on finding a mint used one off of ebay ....hopefully there are soem on there next month. I'm goign to sell my 5150 head on ebay too....seeing i prob wont get any action on it here, or on ultimate-guitar.com.

would a dual rect, or a triple rect, be better? is the only difference that the dual is 50 watts less??

I plan on putting my peavey on ebay sometime next week.........i hope to get $700 canadian out of it. One the exact same as mine just sold on there today for that exact price.....so i should be able to...

i found a mint one off of ebay. Do you think the fact that it only having 2 channels would really feel limited , compared to the newer 3 channel ones???

my triple is of the 2 channel variety as well. Its not limited by the TYPE of tone you can get, you just only have QUICK access to 2 unique sounds with the foot pedal.


It can do everything the 3 channel model can do. I prefer the 2 channel model out of simplicity

if i did end up getting a triple rect. (more triples on ebay then there are duals), can you pull soem tubes to bring it down to a lower wattage?? or buy one of those power soaker things to help overdrive the tubes??

150 watts is alot...and i read reviews on harmony-central and sites like that, adn they said u dotn really need 150 watts.......especially not for me,,,.,....seeign im not even in a band currently...

Hey kurrpt. I wanted to ask you a question......i keep hearign ppl say it, especially on ebay.

People keep saying that the "TONE" from the older dual/triple rect's. (2 channel versions) is better then the newer 3 channel versions.

do you think this is correct, or just some BS??

i found a MINT dual rectifier (2 channel) head on ebay. Right near my location..in the same province. Comes with original reciept, head cover, and ALL tubes have just been replaced.

so again, my question is....do you think that the 2 channels are better then the 3 channels?

i swear..this has got to be my last question!~ LOL

Ive never tried a 2 channel and a 3 channel side by side. I can say that my 2 channel triple, can do anything the 3 channels can. I find the 2 channel really easy to set up

My peavey auction ends on feb 6th. and theres a triple rect, 3 channel on ebay right now that comes with a road case that i wanna possibly get, adn it ends at 9:00 tonight. we'll see if i get it lol

Its is a mesa boogie dual rectifier 3 channel. Brand new....he sent me pics of it, and everything is in plastic wrap still. said it was to be used in a studio that never happened.

he wants $1300 USD for it. and he lives 1.5 hrs away from me. Do you think this is too much? keeping in mind it is brand new. comes with head, manual, 5 button footswitch, vinyl amp cover....etc....all new

he wants 1300 US dollars......so rounding up thats about $1500 canadian. Its brand new...still in box.......i think im still gettign a deal, because over here they are about $2100-$2500 canadian for it....
