Im a blues/rock guitarist and I wanna learn some piano. I mainly wanna play jazz piano but that will come in time. I just need to know, cause ive been looking on ebay, is say...49 keys enough to learn basic chords/then maybe learn jazz piano. Or should I pay the extra $15 and get 61 keys?

I wanna pay as little as possible cause i want a really expensive amp.

thanks

I would jsut go ahead and pay 15 bucks more for 61 keys so you can learn the basics and upgrade from there. Do you have any keyboards selected that you would want?

trust me, the xtra 15 bucks is definitely worth it. i started off on a cheap unweighted keyboard, and it got me going for about 4 years. it will give you a reasonable feel and idea of piano. if you get something really small it is going to limit your learning ability by a lot.

Get the 61 keys.

And if you really get into jazz piano, plan on upgrading from there. Definitely head towards fully-weighted keys.

Pretty ambitious to head towards jazz piano... check out The Jazz Piano Book by Mark Levine. That'll keep you going for a while. :)
