I play guitar/vocals in a three piece punk rock band.
I'm a better guitarist then I am a singer, but I have a distinctive voice, and my singing has got much better in recant months.
I know from a musicianship point of view, I'd have to take on a singer rather then a guitarist, but we're worried about losing a distinct sounding voice and my edge as a frontman (I've been told I have excellent stage presense).
I feel I could help my stage presense and my singing by passing guitar duties on to someone else.
Do you guys think it's a good idea to bring in the guitarist or not?
ATM my plan is to have a few rehearsals with someone I have lined up, then try him out as a "guest guitarist" on a couple of songs at our next gig, which is in February.
P.S. If you want to hear some recordings to help make your mind up, check out http://www.myspace.com/suicidalducklingsmusic
