So I had been drivin' for like 12 hours and I pulled into a hotel

...this was out in the middle of the Northern Territory (an extremely sparsely populated area of Australia consisting mainly of desert).

So I'd been listening to my ipod through my car stereo system by using the inbuilt radio transmitter (Ipods will transmit what they are playing a small distance via a radio frequency). As I pulled into the hotel carpark I put the ipod in my pocket and walked in to the bar. There was just me and a few other blokes and the bartender. I called out "Oi, Bruce, why 'aven't ya got yer radio on?" Bruce looked up behind the bar giving me a dirty look and said "We don't get no radio reception out here, ya silly bugger." I said "Oh? Ya wanna bet" and he said "Yeah I want to bet" and I said "$10 says you'll be able to pick up 195.59fm, it's a great channel with no ads at all. Constant music." Bruce says "Okay, ya on."

Now Bruce tunes his radio to that frequency and is amazed to find he gets perfect reception. With his mouth wide open he hands me a $10 note and a beer. I stay for about an hour watching the cricket on TV. Just before I heard off again I nip into the gents. In there I get out my ipod and see it has low battery so I turn it off. When I've done my business I exit through the bar and cack myself laughing as I see Bruce hitting his radio and fiddling with the knobs.
