Specail Effects-wierd Sounds-intro's

Hi guys im thinking of joining a band and i was gunna play keyboard and effects i was going to use a laptop to put all the effects on and just play it through the pa.

i was just wondering is there a program i can use to make intresting effects. Sort of like underoath http://www.myspace.com/underoath (listen to when the sun sleeps intro) and just wierd sounds to incoperate into music thanks heeps

SynthEdit lets you build things from scratch. There's also a program floating around out there called "DSP Engine" or something similar that has a similar design.

I happen to like VST Host for that sort of thing. You basically find some good plugins, hook up audio/MIDI to your computer, and just start creating things in real time. It's a pretty powerful tool.
